Join a senior, collaborative team building a patient-facing research platform that helps determine eligibility in real time and supports electronic consent. This is a turnkey solution role where you will shape the architecture, guide technical discovery, and help deliver a secure, scalable experience across healthcare, identity, and e-signature systems.
Responsibilities
- Lead technical discovery sessions with research, product, security, identity, and EHR stakeholders to validate feasibility and integration needs.
- Assess whether eligibility decisions can be returned in near real time and define fallback approaches if needed.
- Design the target architecture, including solution flows, sequence diagrams, integration details, and non-functional requirements.
- Shape the eligibility service approach, including configurable rules where appropriate.
- Design consent initiation through existing APIs and support embedded e-signature workflows using an API-based identifier.
- Partner with security teams to define PHI handling, authentication, authorization, audit logging, SSO, session management, and penetration-test readiness.
- Support enterprise architecture approval and serve as the technical authority throughout discovery and build.
- Review designs and code during delivery, help resolve blockers, and protect architectural consistency.
- Contribute to the feasibility assessment, recommendation, build estimate, and fixed-bid pricing support.
Skills
- 10+ years of software engineering experience, including 5+ years in solution or enterprise architecture.
- Strong background in cloud-native web applications and API integration design.
- Hands-on experience with React, Next.js, and Node.js/TypeScript services.
- Experience with event-driven messaging, such as Google Pub/Sub.
- Healthcare integration knowledge, including HL7 FHIR, Epic APIs, or comparable EHR interfaces.
- Experience designing secure solutions for HIPAA-regulated PHI.
- Ability to translate business and clinical needs into practical, scalable technical designs.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills for working across technical and non-technical teams.
Preferred Skills
- Epic integration experience, including FHIR R4, Epic on FHIR, Interconnect, or Bridges.
- Experience with Adobe Acrobat Sign or DocuSign embedded-signing design.
- Familiarity with 21 CFR Part 11 considerations.
- Exposure to clinical trial systems, participant tracking, or rules-engine design.
- Experience working within established enterprise architecture standards and approval processes.
- Ability to support security review and build confidence in deployment readiness.
