Join a dynamic engineering team supporting the integration of software and hardware for advanced vehicle systems. This role offers the opportunity to work with real-time embedded software, Linux-based environments, networking technologies, and hands-on test support in a collaborative, problem-solving environment.
Responsibilities
- Integrate and verify software applications running on Red Hat Enterprise Linux alongside hardware components in a vehicle system environment.
- Build, maintain, and troubleshoot software and hardware integration test setups.
- Use Ethernet and CAN bus knowledge to support testing, diagnostics, and issue resolution.
- Work closely with engineering and vehicle test teams to investigate issues and analyze data.
- Support software verification activities, troubleshooting, and problem-solving across integration efforts.
- Contribute to cybersecurity hardening efforts and scanning activities as needed.
- Mentor less experienced engineers and help strengthen integration and test practices within the team.
- Ensure technical solutions align with engineering principles, quality expectations, and customer needs.
- Travel to customer sites as required and support work involving combat vehicle systems.
Skills
- 4+ years of software integration experience.
- Hands-on experience integrating software applications on Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
- Ability to package software as RPMs and binary executables.
- Experience working with drivers, shared objects, and static libraries.
- Strong understanding of Ethernet and CAN bus protocols.
- Experience using Git and Jira/GitLab configuration management tools.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong critical thinking and troubleshooting abilities.
- Ability to build effective working relationships and solve technical issues collaboratively.
- Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with embedded systems.
- Familiarity with Bash, PowerShell, or Python scripting.
- Exposure to C or C++ programming.
- Experience with VxWorks or other real-time operating systems.
- Knowledge of military or commercial design standards.
- Familiarity with MIL-STD-1553.
- Experience with UML modeling tools or DOORS.
- Understanding of CMMI for development.
- Familiarity with Qt Framework and QML-based front-end development.
- Knowledge of Ethernet-based protocols such as SSL/TLS, SSH, and SFTP.
- Experience with Nessus and Coverity cybersecurity scans.
- Knowledge of system hardening and STIG implementation.
- Experience working with virtual machines.
- Prior use of NI TestStand.
- Familiarity with combat vehicle functionality and capabilities.
- Preferred bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science.
