Join a fully remote infrastructure team building and operationalizing next-generation software-defined storage to support modern analytics and AI workloads. This contract role is ideal for a hands-on storage engineer who enjoys working across Kubernetes, automation, and production environments to take solutions from proof of concept to readiness for scale.

Responsibilities

• Deploy, configure, and support software-defined storage solutions in Kubernetes-based environments
• Evaluate and prototype storage technologies to help inform platform selection and architecture decisions
• Create automation for deployments, upgrades, and ongoing operational tasks using scripting and infrastructure tools
• Build monitoring dashboards, alerts, and runbooks to improve visibility and supportability
• Run benchmarking, scalability, and resiliency testing to validate storage performance
• Partner with Kubernetes, security, infrastructure, and application teams to integrate and harden solutions
• Investigate complex storage and infrastructure issues in production and drive them to resolution
• Contribute to engineering documentation and best practices for storage platform operations

Skills

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in storage engineering, infrastructure engineering, or a related technical discipline
• Proven experience operating distributed or large-scale storage systems in production
• Strong experience with software-defined storage platforms such as Ceph, MinIO, SeaweedFS, Apache Ozone, or similar systems
• Working knowledge of deploying and managing storage solutions in Kubernetes environments
• Scripting experience for infrastructure automation using Python, Go, Bash, or similar tools
• Solid Linux administration skills for troubleshooting and maintaining storage nodes and infrastructure
• Understanding of distributed systems concepts, including high availability and fault tolerance

Preferred Skills

• Hands-on Ceph experience
• Experience with S3-compatible object storage protocols and architectures
• Familiarity with Prometheus, Grafana, or OpenTelemetry
• Exposure to Helm charts, Kubernetes operators, or similar deployment automation tools
• Knowledge of storage-related security practices such as encryption, certificate management, secrets management, and access controls
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code practices
• Background supporting enterprise-scale or large-scale production environments
• Exposure to AI, analytics, or large-scale data platform workloads
