Join a fast-paced Data Center Engineering and Operations team where you’ll play a hands-on role in keeping large-scale online services running smoothly. This position focuses on deploying, provisioning, and maintaining critical data center infrastructure with an emphasis on reliability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Install, rack, cable, and provision servers, switches, PDUs, consoles, and related data center equipment.
- Perform initial system setup following standard operating procedures, including BIOS configuration, PXE operating system installs, and DNS updates.
- Troubleshoot hardware issues, document findings, and help produce clear root cause analysis reports.
- Support hardware decommissioning and replacement efforts as aging equipment is retired.
- Process return merchandise authorization requests with vendors as needed.
- Maintain accurate inventory records across multiple data center locations.
- Follow best practices for cabling, power balancing, and overall data center operations.
- Track and complete assigned tasks and incidents through internal ticketing systems in a timely manner.
- Participate in an on-call rotation supporting 24/7 operations.
- Travel as needed, up to 15%.
Skills
- At least 4 years of data center-related experience, including 2+ years of hands-on work in an enterprise-scale environment.
- Strong experience with server and network equipment deployment in a production setting.
- Solid understanding of x86 server hardware, components, and system architecture.
- Hands-on knowledge of BIOS and BMC configuration on x86 hardware.
- Basic working knowledge of Linux and networking fundamentals.
- Familiarity with cabling standards such as MMF, SMF, LC/MTP, and CAT6.
- Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks in a fast-moving environment.
- Strong documentation and communication skills with attention to detail.
Preferred Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Relevant certifications such as A+, Server+, RHCSA, or CCNA.
- Experience working with version control tools such as Git or Bitbucket.
- Exposure to large-scale buildouts, infrastructure maintenance, and operational best practices.
- Experience collaborating closely with technical operations teams in a high-accountability environment.
