Join a dynamic engineering team as a Senior Software Integration Engineer focused on integrating and testing real-time, embedded software in a complex vehicle environment. This role offers the opportunity to work across hardware and software integration, troubleshoot technical issues, and contribute to mission-critical systems with a strong emphasis on quality and collaboration.
Responsibilities
- Integrate and validate software applications running on Red Hat Enterprise Linux, along with hardware components used in vehicle-based systems.
- Build, maintain, and improve integration test environments that support software and hardware verification.
- Use Ethernet and CAN bus knowledge to test systems, investigate issues, and support troubleshooting efforts.
- Partner with engineering, test, and cross-functional teams to analyze reported problems and review system data.
- Support software verification activities to help ensure technical, performance, process, and quality expectations are met.
- Contribute to networking, cybersecurity hardening, and vulnerability scan activities as part of the integration process.
- Mentor and support other engineers by sharing troubleshooting approaches and integration best practices.
- Help maintain effective relationships with customers and technical stakeholders while working on-site as needed.
Skills
- At least 4 years of experience in software integration.
- Experience integrating software applications on Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
- Ability to package software as RPMs and binary executables.
- Experience working with drivers, shared objects, and static libraries.
- Working knowledge of Ethernet and CAN bus protocols.
- Experience using Git and Jira/GitLab configuration management tools.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to think critically, solve technical problems, and support engineering investigations.
- Ability to develop effective working relationships with customers and internal teams.
- Willingness and ability to travel to customer sites.
- Ability to work with combat vehicle systems.
- Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field.
Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with military and commercial design standards.
- Experience with MIL-STD-1553.
- Familiarity with UML modeling tools and DOORS.
- Experience with CMMI for development.
- Background in embedded systems or VxWorks/other RTOS environments.
- Knowledge of C and C++ programming.
- Experience with scripting languages such as Bash, PowerShell, or Python.
- Familiarity with Qt Framework and QML-based GUIs.
- Knowledge of Ethernet-based protocols such as SSL/TLS, SSH, and SFTP.
- Experience with Nessus, Coverity, hardening systems, and applying STIG rules.
- Familiarity with virtual machine setup and usage.
- Experience with architectural-level software design tools such as MagicDraw or Enterprise Architect.
- Experience using NI TestStand.
- Familiarity with combat vehicle functionality and capabilities.
