We’re looking for a Shopify Plus Technical Lead to help guide a headless commerce proof of concept focused on integrating Shopify checkout into a Next.js architecture. This role offers the opportunity to shape technical strategy, lead solution design, and deliver modern commerce experiences using Shopify Hydrogen, React, and TypeScript.
Responsibilities
- Lead the technical delivery of headless Shopify Plus commerce solutions from discovery and architecture through implementation and launch
- Partner with product, UX, delivery, and solution strategy teams to define architecture approaches, technical tradeoffs, and integration patterns
- Design and build custom storefronts using Shopify Hydrogen, React, and TypeScript
- Develop and maintain GraphQL-based integrations using Shopify Storefront and Admin APIs
- Translate business needs into clear, maintainable technical designs and architecture documentation
- Support the design of scalable storefront experiences with modern frontend performance practices
- Build and integrate custom Shopify apps and connect Shopify with external systems and platforms
- Contribute technical leadership throughout requirements gathering, implementation, and delivery
Skills
- Strong experience with Shopify Plus and headless commerce architecture
- Deep knowledge of Shopify Hydrogen and custom headless storefront implementations
- Advanced proficiency in React and TypeScript
- Strong understanding of Shopify Storefront and Admin GraphQL APIs
- Experience designing GraphQL-first data models and workflows
- Knowledge of SSR, streaming, caching, and frontend performance optimization
- Hands-on experience building or integrating Node.js-based Shopify apps
- Experience working with authentication, webhooks, background jobs, and event-driven architectures
- Solid understanding of Shopify commerce concepts such as products, variants, collections, pricing, discounts, inventory, orders, and fulfillment
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Checkout Kit
- Background in migrating legacy or monolithic commerce platforms to headless Shopify
- Experience with Remix, Next.js, or similar modern React frameworks
- Familiarity with composable commerce and MACH principles
- Experience integrating Shopify with ERP, OMS, WMS, PIM, CMS, or other third-party platforms
- Experience with Shopify configuration, instance management, and multi-store or multi-region setups
- Strong collaboration skills and comfort working across product, UX, and architecture teams
- Ability to evaluate and adopt emerging commerce technologies
