Join a dynamic infrastructure team as a Systems Administrator III supporting enterprise file transfer and server environments in a remote capacity. This role offers the opportunity to work on system integration, secure communications, and operational reliability in a fast-paced setting where strong troubleshooting and attention to detail are highly valued.
Responsibilities
- Install, configure, maintain, and support server operating systems, related utilities, and hardware across the environment.
- Perform system integration testing and help release new technologies into production.
- Investigate and resolve server issues reported by users and internal teams.
- Support secure web access and electronic messaging services.
- Help maintain a secure systems environment through access, encryption, and certificate management practices.
- Research and recommend software and hardware solutions based on business and technical needs.
- Provide hardware specifications aligned to application requirements and anticipated growth.
- Monitor file transfer operations and assist in troubleshooting failed transfers and connectivity issues.
- Contribute to change management, documentation, and operational support processes.
Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 5 to 7+ years of experience in IT infrastructure, systems administration, or a similar technical role.
- Hands-on experience supporting managed file transfer solutions.
- Working knowledge of protocols such as SFTP, FTP/FTPS, HTTP, and HTTPS.
- Experience with Linux/Unix and Windows Server administration.
- Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose transfer, system, and connectivity issues.
- Knowledge of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DNS, firewalls, and load balancers.
- Familiarity with scripting for automation, such as Bash, PowerShell, Python, or Perl.
- Understanding of security concepts including PGP/GPG, SSH keys, and SSL/TLS certificates.
- Clear communication and documentation skills.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with MFT platforms such as IBM Sterling, Axway, Sterling Secure Proxy, or Sterling Connect:Direct.
- Vendor-specific certifications related to managed file transfer platforms.
- ITIL Foundation or similar service management knowledge.
- Relevant operating system certifications in Linux or Microsoft technologies.
- Experience with scheduling tools such as Control-M, AutoSys, or Cron.
- Exposure to monitoring and alerting tools such as Splunk, Nagios, or SolarWinds.
- Experience supporting on-call or after-hours incident response.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across technical and business teams.
