Join a fast-paced hardware development team as a CAD Technician supporting the creation of detailed mechanical drawings and 3D models for robotic systems. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys turning engineering concepts into precise, manufacturable documentation that supports fabrication and assembly.
Responsibilities
- Create accurate mechanical drawings and 3D models for parts and assemblies used in robotic hardware
- Translate engineering sketches, concepts, and specifications into clear production-ready documentation
- Develop drawings that reflect proper tolerances, fits, surface finish requirements, and GD&T principles
- Support design-for-manufacturing efforts by considering the needs of CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, 3D printing, and casting
- Help maintain organized, high-quality documentation throughout the design and production process
- Work closely with engineering and fabrication teams to ensure drawings are accurate, complete, and ready for use
- Contribute to revision updates and engineering change processes as needed
Skills
- At least 2 years of experience in mechanical drafting or a similar role in a manufacturing environment
- Strong proficiency with 3D CAD software for part and assembly modeling
- Working knowledge of GD&T and how it applies to real-world manufacturing
- Solid understanding of mechanical tolerancing, fits, and surface finish callouts
- Ability to interpret sketches and convert them into formal technical drawings
- Familiarity with ASME Y14 series and/or ISO drawing standards
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing accurate, error-free work
Preferred Skills
- Experience using Onshape, especially in a cloud-based CAD environment
- Background supporting electromechanical assemblies or robotic systems
- Experience creating drawings for low-volume or hand-built production environments
- Exposure to revision control tools and engineering change order processes
- Strong collaboration and communication skills with a proactive, team-oriented mindset
