Join a dynamic infrastructure team as a Linux Operating System Engineer supporting enterprise Linux environments across on-premises data centers and AWS cloud. This role offers the opportunity to work on hands-on administration, automation, troubleshooting, and service management in a fast-paced environment where reliability, security, and collaboration are key.
Responsibilities
- Administer, maintain, and support RHEL 8 servers across on-premises and AWS environments.
- Handle server provisioning, configuration, patching, upgrades, and ongoing lifecycle management.
- Monitor system health, identify performance bottlenecks, and help ensure service availability and SLA adherence.
- Troubleshoot complex issues related to Linux operating systems, applications, storage, and networking.
- Implement security controls, system hardening, vulnerability remediation, and compliance-related tasks.
- Support Linux-based workloads in AWS, including core infrastructure and networking components.
- Develop and maintain automation scripts to improve efficiency and streamline routine operational work.
- Assist with backup, recovery, disaster recovery, and high-availability activities.
- Work within ITIL-based processes for incident, change, problem, and request management.
- Use ServiceNow to track incidents, changes, service requests, problem records, and related operational updates.
- Partner with application, database, network, and security teams to resolve issues and support business operations.
- Document technical procedures, maintain operational knowledge articles, and participate in on-call support as needed.
Skills
- 5+ years of Linux system administration experience.
- Strong hands-on experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux, especially RHEL 8.
- Proven ability to manage enterprise Linux environments at scale.
- Practical experience supporting Linux workloads in AWS.
- Working knowledge of EC2, EBS, VPC, IAM, CloudWatch, and Auto Scaling.
- Experience with Bash, Python, and/or Ansible for automation and scripting.
- Solid troubleshooting skills across Linux kernel, systemd, LVM, file systems, networking, DNS, SSH, and NFS.
- Understanding of ITIL practices and service management workflows.
- Experience using ServiceNow for incident, change, and problem management.
- Ability to analyze logs, identify root causes, and resolve technical issues effectively.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Detail-oriented approach with a focus on reliability, security, and operational excellence.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with enterprise security standards, Linux hardening, auditing, and compliance remediation.
- Familiarity with capacity planning and performance tuning in large-scale environments.
- Exposure to backup, disaster recovery, and high-availability strategies.
- Experience creating technical documentation and knowledge base content.
- Comfort working in cross-functional teams to support complex business services.
