We’re seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead large, high-priority initiatives from kickoff through completion in a hybrid environment with two days per week onsite in Mendota Heights, MN. This contract role offers the opportunity to partner with business and IT leaders, guide cross-functional teams, and help improve project delivery practices across the organization.
Responsibilities
- Lead complex projects through the full lifecycle, from initiation and planning to execution, delivery, and closure.
- Build and maintain detailed project plans, schedules, resource plans, status updates, and meeting documentation.
- Track scope, timelines, budgets, and deliverables to help ensure successful project outcomes.
- Identify risks and issues early, escalate when needed, and drive practical mitigation actions.
- Coordinate with internal teams, sponsors, vendors, and stakeholders to keep work moving smoothly.
- Support the development and approval of project-related documentation, including statements of work and other key materials.
- Mentor project managers and coordinators while helping strengthen project management methods, templates, and procedures.
- Support project postmortems and lessons learned to improve future delivery practices.
- Communicate project progress, concerns, and outcomes clearly to both operational and executive audiences.
- Partner with business customers and vendors to help resolve issues and support corrective action planning.
Skills
- 8+ years of project management experience leading enterprise-level or large cross-functional initiatives.
- Strong experience managing project plans, budgets, risks, schedules, and stakeholders.
- Excellent executive communication skills, including the ability to present concise status updates and recommendations.
- Ability to work across departments and build collaborative relationships with business and IT partners.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and keep projects on track in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and attention-to-detail skills.
- Ability to work independently while also responding well to direction from multiple stakeholders.
- Comfort working with project management tools and standard methodologies.
Preferred Skills
- PMP certification is preferred.
- Experience mentoring other project managers is a plus.
- Background supporting both IT and business projects is beneficial.
- Experience with large projects spanning 12 to 18 months is helpful.
- Experience with vendors, RFI/RFP processes, and statement of work development is advantageous.
- Experience with projects involving international components is a plus.
