About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Electrical Resident Engineer to oversee electrical works on construction projects. You will ensure electrical installations are completed according to approved drawings, project specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements while coordinating with contractors, consultants, and other project stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and monitor electrical installation works on construction sites.
• Ensure electrical works comply with approved drawings, specifications, codes, standards, and project requirements.
• Monitor installation of LV/MV electrical systems, switchboards, transformers, generators, cabling, lighting, earthing, and electrical equipment.
• Review and comment on electrical shop drawings, material submissions, method statements, and technical documents.
• Conduct regular site inspections and ensure quality workmanship.
• Coordinate with electrical contractors, consultants, M&E teams, and other engineering disciplines to resolve site issues.
• Monitor installation progress and ensure works are completed according to project schedules.
• Witness and verify testing and commissioning of electrical systems.
• Monitor inspection, testing, and rectification of electrical works.
• Ensure compliance with project QA/QC procedures, electrical standards, and site safety requirements.
• Identify construction issues, technical discrepancies, and non-conformities and follow up on corrective actions.
• Attend site meetings and provide technical input on electrical-related matters.
• Prepare site inspection reports, progress reports, and other required project documentation.
• Support project handover by reviewing as-built drawings, testing and commissioning records, O&M manuals, and related documentation.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in electrical engineering, construction, or site supervision.
• Experience in building services or infrastructure projects such as commercial buildings, hospitals, high-rise developments, industrial facilities, or other large-scale construction projects.
• Strong knowledge of:
  • LV/MV electrical systems
  • Electrical distribution systems
  • Switchboards and transformers
  • Generators and UPS systems
  • Electrical cabling and containment
  • Lighting and small power systems
  • Earthing and lightning protection
  • Electrical testing and commissioning
• Familiar with relevant Malaysian electrical standards, authority requirements, and statutory requirements.
• Able to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, single-line diagrams, and shop drawings.
• Proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.
• Good communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
• Able to work independently and effectively in a construction site environment.

Preferred Experience

• Previous experience working as an Electrical Resident Engineer, Electrical Site Engineer, or Electrical Site Supervisor.
• Experience managing and coordinating electrical contractors and subcontractors.
• Familiarity with QA/QC processes, inspection procedures, method statements, and material submissions.
• Experience with electrical testing and commissioning.
• Strong understanding of construction site safety and compliance.
• Familiarity with local authority requirements and coordination with relevant statutory bodies.
