We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Senior Technical Lead to be a senior leader and mentor in a global SAP Basis Infrastructure Engineering and Support team. This team is responsible for the design, implementation, and ongoing support of SAP basis environments across a large-scale, global organization. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in SAP Basis infrastructure support and engineering as well as UNIX (preferably RHEL), with deep knowledge of SAP systems, tools, and technologies, along with the ability to lead and mentor a local team of SAP basis engineers. This role combines senior leadership with technical expertise, requiring the ability to both oversee and coordinate team activities while also diving into hands-on troubleshooting, implementation, and optimization of SAP environments.

Responsibilities:
- SAP Basis Technical Leadership:
- Guide and mentor SAP Basis team engineers, ensuring effective collaboration, communication, and alignment with business goals.
- Manage team performance, provide training and development opportunities, and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
- Oversee day-to-day operations and ensure the team provides high-quality, reliable SAP Basis services, meeting SLAs and KPIs.
- Manage resource allocation, scheduling, and prioritization of projects and support activities.
- Support career growth and help cultivate technical expertise across the team.
- SAP Basis Infrastructure Engineering & Support:
- Own the end-to-end technical support and maintenance of SAP basis landscapes (SAP S/4HANA, SAP ECC, SAP BW, SAP Fiori, etc.) in both on-premises and cloud environments.
- Oversee the installation, configuration, and tuning of SAP systems to ensure optimal performance, security, and availability.
- Lead upgrades, migrations, and patch management processes for SAP systems, including the integration of SAP systems with non-SAP components.
- Coordinate troubleshooting efforts and provide hands-on technical support for complex SAP Basis incidents and problems.
- Manage system health checks, performance optimization, and proactive monitoring to prevent downtime.
- Define and enforce SAP security policies, user access controls, and system compliance.
- UNIX Support and Maintenance:
- Support and maintain UNIX-based system (mainly RHEL), including activities such as patching, upgrades, and other unix-based activities
- Collaboration & Stakeholder Management:
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including SAP application teams, cloud infrastructure teams, security, and operations, to deliver solutions aligned with business needs.
- Provide technical expertise to internal stakeholders and act as a subject matter expert for SAP Basis-related topics.
- Support the development of automation scripts, process documentation, and best practices to streamline operations.
- Innovation & Continuous Improvement:
- Evaluate emerging SAP technologies and solutions, proposing innovative approaches to enhance system performance, scalability, and security.
- Implement automation tools and techniques to reduce manual interventions, improve efficiency, and increase system stability.
Requirements:
- Experience & Expertise:
- 7+ years of hands-on SAP Basis experience, with at least 3-5 years in a senior technical lead role in an SAP Basis engineering and support team.
- Expertise or experience in multiple SAP technologies, including SAP S/4HANA, SAP ECC, SAP BW, SAP BusinessObjects, SAP Fiori, SAP Solution Manager, and SAP NetWeaver.
- Strong knowledge of UNIX (preferably RHEL)
- Strong knowledge of SAP database management (e.g., HANA, Oracle, SQL Server, MaxDB)
- Deep understanding of SAP system architecture, performance tuning, and high availability (HA) configurations, including clustering and disaster recovery.
- Proficiency with SAP transport management, client copy, data migration, and configuration management processes.
- Experience with SAP system migrations (e.g., version upgrades, database migrations, cloud adoption, and HANA migration).
- Familiarity with SAP Cloud Platform (ECS) and integration with SAP’s cloud offerings (e.g., SAP BTP).
- Leadership & Management Skills:
- Proven ability to lead geographically dispersed teams across different time zones (Europe/Asia).
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills with the ability to engage with senior technical and business stakeholders.
- Ability to manage complex projects, prioritize tasks, and deliver results in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Experience in team development, including mentoring and training junior staff, providing feedback, and performance management.
- Technical & Operational Skills:
- Strong experience with SAP Basis tools like SAP Solution Manager, SAP EarlyWatch Alert, and SAP Cloud ALM.
- Experience in automation and scripting (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, Python, or similar) for system maintenance and task automation.
- Solid understanding of ITIL-based processes for incident, problem, and change management.
- Knowledge of monitoring tools (e.g., SAP Solution Manager, Nagios, Zabbix, or others) and performance monitoring techniques.
- Knowledge of SAP transport / deployment solutions (e.g. ChaRM) preferable.
- Education & Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
- SAP Basis certifications (e.g., SAP Certified Technology Associate – SAP HANA, SAP Certified Technology Associate – SAP NetWeaver) are highly desirable.
- Additional Skills:
- Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud) and cloud-based SAP deployments is a plus.
- Fluent in English (both written and spoken). Proficiency in additional European or Asian languages is a plus.
