Join a newly formed Private Cloud team building a greenfield on-premises private cloud platform based on OpenStack. This role is focused on designing, operating, and continuously improving the physical network fabric that supports a highly available, scalable, and performant cloud environment.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and operate a dedicated leaf-spine network fabric for a private cloud environment with OpenStack integration
- Configure and support core data center networking technologies, including BGP, EVPN, VXLAN, and ECMP
- Manage network platforms in a production environment, including Cisco and other enterprise data center technologies
- Oversee network hardware and software lifecycles, including deployments, upgrades, and vendor evaluations
- Automate network changes and operational tasks using modern software development practices and CI/CD pipelines
- Create and maintain observability dashboards to track telemetry, performance, and capacity trends
- Partner with engineering teams to troubleshoot incidents, resolve complex issues, and support platform changes
- Apply operational engineering and SRE principles to improve reliability and scalability
Skills
- At least 5 years of experience in a relevant network engineering role
- Strong hands-on experience with Cisco NX-OS and/or Arista EOS
- Proven experience operating large-scale production data center networks supporting OpenStack, HPC, or AI platforms
- Practical knowledge of EVPN, VXLAN, and BGP
- Experience using Ansible, Python, and/or Terraform to automate networking operations
- Solid understanding of Git and infrastructure as code practices
- Strong troubleshooting, diagnostic, and performance tuning abilities
- Good Linux skills
Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with OpenStack Neutron, OVN, and ML2
- Experience with Prometheus, Grafana, and OpenTelemetry
- Exposure to SRE practices such as service level objectives and error budgets
- Knowledge of SR-IOV, SmartNICs, and DPUs
- Understanding of RoCE/RDMA and high-performance storage networking
- Experience with network performance benchmarking
