Join Zoox as a Software Engineer and be at the forefront of redefining autonomous transportation! In this pivotal role, you will develop and operate the autolabeling pipeline that dramatically accelerates vehicle attribute classification, directly impacting the safety and efficiency of next-generation autonomous vehicles. Your expertise will help create high-quality labeled data from fleet drive data, utilizing cutting-edge foundation models to streamline the annotation process and enable smarter, more reliable perception systems.
Required Skills:
- 3+ years of backend or data pipeline engineering experience
- Strong proficiency in Python; experience with C++
- Large dataset experience with PySpark or similar frameworks
- Fundamental understanding of machine learning concepts — model inference, embeddings, structured outputs, evaluation metrics
- Proven track record of integrating foundation models (e.g., Gemini, OpenAI, Anthropic) at production scale
- Ability to build reliable, observable, and well-tested data pipelines
Nice to Have Skills:
- Experience with Databricks and end-to-end ML pipeline management
- Knowledge of annotation tooling or human-in-the-loop workflows
- Experience working with autonomous systems data pipelines
- Familiarity with AWS services such as S3, ECS/EKS, and Lambda
- Collaboration within shared ML engineering environments
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s or higher degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related fields
- Prior experience owning ML systems from data ingestion to inference and monitoring
Other Requirements:
- Willingness to work at least 3 days/week on-site in Foster City, CA
- Successful completion of a background check and drug screening
