Join a collaborative software engineering team focused on building and supporting mission-critical systems for merchandising and financial operations. This full stack developer role is primarily backend-focused, with opportunities to contribute to frontend development while helping modernize legacy platforms into scalable, distributed applications.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain software that supports vendor funding and related financial systems
- Contribute to both new application development and ongoing support of existing legacy solutions
- Work across the full software development lifecycle, from design through delivery and support
- Partner closely with teammates in a collaborative, pair-programming-friendly environment
- Write clean, maintainable code with a strong focus on quality and simplicity
- Support the modernization of older systems by helping create durable, scalable applications
- Participate in agile development practices and continuous improvement efforts
- Take part in technical discussions and contribute ideas that improve team and product outcomes
Skills
- 5+ years of professional software development experience
- Proficiency in a JVM-based language such as Java or Groovy
- Strong experience with test-driven development
- Genuine comfort working closely with others and pair programming
- Solid understanding of backend development principles
- Ability to contribute to frontend work when needed
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset
- Willingness to learn, adapt, and contribute to a high-quality engineering culture
Preferred Skills
- Experience building RESTful services using HTTP and JSON
- Familiarity with Spring Framework
- Knowledge of data stores such as Postgres or Oracle
- Exposure to Kafka
- Comfort working in Linux and using bash
- Experience with open source technologies such as Apache or Tomcat
- Front-end experience with React or another JavaScript single-page application framework
- Experience with BigQuery
- Leadership experience or the ability to help guide technical discussions
