We’re looking for a seasoned Systems Administrator with deep IBM WebSphere expertise to support critical applications in a remote environment. This role is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys solving complex middleware challenges, improving automation, and partnering closely with technical teams to keep systems running smoothly.
Responsibilities
- Provide ongoing IBM WebSphere application server administration and middleware support for critical business applications
- Install, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain WebSphere environments, including application server, HTTP, Java, and plugin components
- Support high availability, failover, disaster recovery, and security-related configurations
- Manage junctions, certificates, load balancing, and performance tuning activities
- Develop and maintain automation solutions using Ansible, Python, and shell scripting
- Collaborate with development, operations, and security partners to identify and implement automation opportunities
- Document processes, procedures, and best practices to support long-term maintainability
- Share knowledge and help strengthen in-house expertise through collaboration and mentoring
- Investigate and resolve complex technical issues across automated and middleware environments
- Continuously improve automation frameworks for scalability and reliability
Skills
- Strong hands-on experience as a WebSphere Application Server Administrator
- Solid understanding of IBM WebSphere version 8.5.5 and 9 ND edition
- Advanced UNIX administration and scripting skills, including shell scripting
- Experience with Python and/or Jython scripting
- Knowledge of middleware troubleshooting, installations, and configuration management
- Familiarity with security configuration, certificate management, and performance tuning
- Experience supporting MQ, file transfer, and database connectivity with WebSphere
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with technical teams
- Comfort with change management processes and production support practices
Preferred Skills
- Experience with WebSphere Liberty or other WebSphere-related platforms
- Exposure to XL Deploy or similar automation tools
- Hands-on Ansible automation experience
- Familiarity with CI/CD practices and GitLab
- Working knowledge of AWS and Terraform
- Background supporting enterprise-scale applications and infrastructure
