Join a dynamic aviation technology team supporting mission-critical radio communications systems that keep operations running smoothly across the enterprise. This role offers hands-on work with radio infrastructure, troubleshooting, system support, and project coordination in a fast-paced environment with on-site and on-call responsibilities.
Responsibilities
- Support the design, testing, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of radio communications platforms and related systems.
- Provide technical assistance for voice, data network, and radio communication environments across the organization.
- Monitor system performance, investigate issues, and perform root cause analysis to help restore service quickly and prevent repeat problems.
- Install, configure, troubleshoot, and document hardware, software, and operating system changes related to radio systems.
- Assist with lifecycle planning, system upgrades, releases, and environment changes while minimizing operational impact.
- Coordinate with internal teams and external service providers to support platform reliability and availability.
- Document service tickets, inventory, equipment updates, project plans, and technical standards as needed.
- Help define project scope, develop resource plans, assess risks, and track deliverables through completion.
- Support radio communications infrastructure installation, maintenance, and performance monitoring.
- Participate in on-site and on-call support, including occasional travel as required.
- Perform facilities-related tasks as needed and be able to lift and move equipment up to 75 lbs.
Skills
- 2-4 years of experience in a related technical support, engineering, or systems role.
- Associate’s degree, industry certification, or equivalent applicable experience in IT or a related field.
- Working knowledge of radio communications systems, including HF, VHF, UHF, trunked radio, repeaters, mobile units, base stations, and portable radios.
- Experience supporting integrated radio communications console systems.
- Understanding of RF communications system design and interference troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of airline air-to-ground and ground-to-ground communications systems.
- Ability to support radio-telephony systems and emergency airline radio operations.
- Working knowledge of data communications, network systems, servers, databases, and PC operations.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work through technical issues methodically.
- Clear communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams and with vendors.
- Comfort with project planning, documentation, and tracking multiple tasks or priorities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools such as Word, Excel, Visio, Access, Project, and PowerPoint.
Preferred Skills
- Previous airline experience.
- Knowledge of airline communications, flight operations, ground operations, or technical operations.
- Experience working with radio communication vendors and managing vendor relationships.
- Familiarity with FCC and FAA regulations related to radio communications.
- FCC general radio license.
- Project management experience involving RFI, RFP, and RFQ processes.
- Experience with project management software tools.
- Manpower planning and tracking experience.
- Familiarity with Local Exchange Carriers and AT&T-related processes.
- Ability to contribute to facilities maintenance activities when needed.
