We’re looking for a skilled Java Developer to help advance a modern Middle Office Core Platform through new product development and feature enhancements. This hybrid role is based in Menlo Park, CA, with onsite collaboration required three or more days per week.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and enhance backend services and application components for a high-impact platform team
• Participate in technical discussions, whiteboarding sessions, and solution design conversations
• Develop scalable, highly distributed services that support business and product goals
• Collaborate closely with engineers and cross-functional partners in a fast-moving delivery environment
• Write clean, maintainable code and support code quality through testing and best practices
• Help define interfaces and data exchange between modules and systems
• Contribute to build, release, and deployment processes as part of ongoing product modernization
• Support performance tuning and quality improvements through thoughtful engineering decisions

Skills

• Strong experience with Java and the Spring Framework
• Hands-on microservices development experience
• Experience working with relational databases such as Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, or Sybase
• Solid understanding of object-oriented design, software patterns, and coding principles
• Experience building scalable and highly available distributed systems
• Ability to write code that meets technical standards and functional requirements
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate technical ideas clearly
• Experience working in agile software development environments
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a STEM-related field, or equivalent relevant experience
• At least 7 years of relevant professional experience, or 5 years with a master’s degree, or 2 years with a PhD

Preferred Skills

• Python scripting experience
• Experience with Kubernetes, containers, and service mesh technologies
• Cloud experience with AWS or Azure
• Experience in cloud-based software development using modern open-source frameworks and technologies
• Familiarity with Go
• Background in optimizing application performance through design and coding best practices
• Strong communication skills and confidence working with senior stakeholders
• Ability to adapt quickly, learn new technologies, and work effectively with global teams
