We are looking for a seasoned developer with experience in IBM i environments to join our dynamic team working on business-critical applications. This remote contract position offers the chance to lead development projects and collaborate with internal teams and stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain both custom and purchased application solutions using RPG and other IBM technologies.
- Collaborate with internal and external teams to understand business requirements and translate them into technical designs.
- Ensure ongoing application support and enhancements, while adhering to lifecycle methodology and project plans.
- Write and review technical specifications, making technical recommendations to improve business applications.
- Train other IT developers on new technologies and development practices.
Skills
- Extensive programming experience with RPGIV or RPGILE.
- Proficiency in iSeries technologies, including SQL, CL, SDA, and RDA.
- Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with vendors and customers.
- Ability to work independently and lead projects without supervision.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with JSON and API technologies, particularly in supporting a service business.
- A keen understanding of business requirements and ability to translate them into functional solutions.
