We're looking for a skilled IBMi Systems Engineer to join our team and enhance our enterprise systems environment with a focus on performance, reliability, and security. Work collaboratively and independently to maintain and optimize our systems.
Responsibilities
- Ensure optimal performance and uptime through system monitoring and routine maintenance.
- Execute system health checks, manage subsystems, and address system messages.
- Update firmware and operating systems in line with change management processes.
- Manage user profiles and security protocols effectively.
- Troubleshoot hardware and software issues, ensuring timely resolution.
- Enhance existing backup and disaster recovery procedures to boost data safety.
- Provide on-call support for critical incidents during after-hours as needed.
Skills
- Extensive experience in IBMi / AS/400 / iSeries system support, spanning 3-5+ years.
- Strong command of OS/400, CL command usage, and system administration complexities.
- Proficient in job scheduling, monitoring, and utilizing system backup tools effectively.
- Adept at identifying and resolving system and performance issues autonomously.
- Detail-oriented documenter with a grasp of change management protocols.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with enterprise backup technologies such as Cohesity or Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM).
- Understanding of commercial banking systems and high availability solutions.
- Knowledge of automation and system management tools, including scheduling utilities.
- Familiarity with network protocols relevant to IBMi systems, like TCP/IP and FTP.
