Responsibilities
- Create six compelling feature stories monthly for health publications, ensuring clarity and accessibility.
- Transform complex clinical and scientific information into engaging content for the general public.
- Conduct insightful interviews with medical professionals and patients to capture authentic narratives.
- Participate in editorial meetings twice a week to refine story ideas and maintain consistency and accuracy.
- Collaborate with creative teams to enhance stories with visual elements like photos and videos.
- Ensure all content aligns with editorial standards and the mission across print and digital platforms.
- Perform background research and stay updated on emerging healthcare trends to inform content creation.
- Contribute to broader communication strategies through cross-departmental publications and campaigns.
Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, English, Health Sciences, or a related field.
- 3–5 years of experience in health, medical, or science writing for public audiences.
- Proven ability to make complex topics accessible and engaging for a wide audience.
- Strong interviewing, storytelling, and deadline management skills.
- Experience with digital publishing and knowledge of AP Style.
Preferred Skills
- Master’s degree in a related field.
- Familiarity with healthcare terminology and medical research practices.
- Strong organizational and collaboration skills.
- A portfolio showcasing published work in medical, health, or scientific publications.
