JOB DESCRIPTION

Join us as a Health & Science Content Editor and play a pivotal role in shaping the voice of health and science communications. This part-time contract position offers the flexibility to work remotely or in Charleston, SC, while ensuring editorial excellence across a wide range of publications.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the editing and quality assurance of approximately 30 articles monthly across various platforms.
  • Ensure consistency and clarity in newsletters, research features, clinical stories, and press releases.
  • Maintain a consistent editorial tone and style that aligns with brand guidelines.
  • Collaborate with writers, clinical experts, and communication staff to enhance content structure and storytelling.
  • Coordinate with content strategy management to manage editorial workload and deadlines.
  • Edit and fact-check internal and external communications to ensure adherence to editorial guidelines.
  • Stay updated on trends in healthcare communications and digital publishing to enhance editorial presence.

Skills

  • Proven editorial experience in healthcare, science, or higher education.
  • Strong command of AP Style and digital publishing standards.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to edit complex medical and research topics for diverse audiences.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience mentoring or collaborating with writers to improve content quality.
  • Familiarity with trends in healthcare communications and science writing.
