Job Description
Would you like to implement innovative IoT and cloud computing solutions that directly impact the safety and sustainability of client's global workforce? Do you have a deep passion for engineering and operating world-class building automation infrastructure that creates a better workplace for future generations?
This is an exciting opportunity to use cutting-edge cloud computing and IoT technologies to manage one of the world's largest enterprise building management systems. The EBMS Platform team is responsible for critical infrastructure that monitors and controls building systems across 1,200+ client's facilities worldwide, directly supporting associate safety, operational efficiency, and Climate Pledge commitments.
The Enterprise Building Management System (EBMS) provides the infrastructure and services that enable real-time monitoring of building performance metrics including temperature, humidity, equipment alarms, and environmental safety systems. EBMS processes data from integrated equipment across client's global facilities, ensuring reliable platform operations for mission-critical building systems.
Key Job Responsibilities
The EBMS Platform team is seeking a highly motivated AWS Cloud Engineer who is focused on operational excellence and troubleshooting complex distributed systems, with strong understanding of AWS services, networking, and IoT platforms. We need engineers who understand how to Think Big and simplify solutions to complex problems, all while ensuring our global facilities continue to operate safely and efficiently.
You will take defined infrastructure projects, break down the work to help define milestones and feedback mechanisms. You identify when implementations are not highly available or have performance issues; you investigate systemic patterns across our global platform. You resolve, mitigate, or escalate operational concerns in a timely manner while coordinating with cross-functional teams.
Infrastructure Management & Operations
• Manage and optimize 400+ EC2 instances across AWS regions supporting global EBMS operations
• Monitor and maintain platform reliability for critical building automation systems
• Handle AWS account management across multiple environments (production, staging, development)
• Implement security controls, IAM policies, and access management for highly confidential building data
Incident Response & System Management
• Manage automated infrastructure alerts and remediation workflows
• Coordinate resolution of security and operational issues with global stakeholder teams
• Maintain SLA compliance and escalation procedures for business-critical incidents
• Participate in on-call rotation to ensure 24/7 platform support
Strategic Project Coordination
• Support platform migration initiatives and security enhancement projects
• Coordinate technical implementations across global infrastructure
• Manage platform aspects of site integrations, system upgrades, and security enhancements
• Document processes, maintain technical runbooks, and drive operational improvements
A Day in the Life
On a "typical" day, you might dive deep to find the root cause of a building connectivity issue affecting associate safety systems, investigate why energy consumption metrics are trending unexpectedly across a region, or discuss innovative approaches to automate operational processes for our global platform. As a member of our team, you'll join a dedicated group of engineers who provide 24/7 support for critical building infrastructure and continuously innovate to improve operational efficiency.
The EBMS Platform team supports infrastructure that directly impacts associate safety through heat index monitoring, environmental controls, and emergency systems across client's global facilities. Our work provides technical leadership for platform operations that have far-reaching impact on building automation worldwide.
