JOB DESCRIPTION

Join our team as a Usability Specialist III and help shape the future of online selling platforms with your expertise in user research and usability testing. Be a part of a dynamic design team dedicated to enhancing user interfaces for sellers and advocating for their needs.

Responsibilities
  • Document best practices for conducting user research of sellers and help create a seller usability toolkit for conducting formal and informal user studies.
  • Promote usability best practices with the selling organization, not just the design team.
  • Conduct variety of user experience studies appropriate to the business objective, e.g., competitive reviews, focus groups, field studies, usability tests, surveys, cognitive walkthroughs, paired comparisons, structured interviews, contextual inquiry, task analysis, field studies, heuristic review, remote testing, and card sorting.
  • Create tasks and materials needed for testing and define success criteria for each study.
  • Presents usability study results and make actionable research-based recommendations to product team members.
  • Observe user session, making notes for analysis and communicating the findings with the design team to ensure that usability findings are implemented correctly.
  • Work with designers to analyze and refine wire frames and mockups prior to development to promote greater ease of use and positive consumer experience.

Required Qualifications:
  • Advanced degree in Experimental Psychology, Cognitive Psychology, Social Psychology, Human Factors, Human Computer Interaction, Behavioral Economics, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7+ years experience conducting user research and usability studies, across a variety of development life cycle stages
  • Skill and desire to promote user centered design to technical teams.
  • Expertise with UserTesting.com platform and other remote research tools
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in collaborating with design teams and cross-functional stakeholders
  • Proven ability to work on overlapping projects with strong organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in e-commerce or delivery service research
  • Experience in coaching or training others in research methods
  • Experience researching and developing experiences for global markets.
  • Strategic, business-building approach to research with a passion for translating data into bottom-line impact.
  • Experience in the application of a variety of research methods; qualitative and quantitative, attitudinal and behavioral, generative and evaluative.
  • Experience designing and running original experimental research on digital products and services.
  • Working understanding of the design process and how research is appropriately integrated at each phase.
  • Understanding of human motivations, capabilities, and limitations as applied to the design of interactive systems.
  • Facility for uncovering root causes of good or bad research results for a given UI design.
  • Basic grasp of quantitative data analysis and inferential statistics.
  • Solid written, verbal, and visual communication skills; ability to distill complex ideas into concise and accurate narratives that enlighten and inspire.
  • Passion for understanding the latest learnings and innovations in behavioral science, research methods, and UX design and applying these to your work.

Must haves:
Primary strong background in usability testing, conducting user testing, being able to present to stakeholders their findings.
Degree/certification: Bachelors is required, Masters preferred.
