JOB DESCRIPTION
The Books Studio defines the UX guidelines and design language (codified in our design system) that enables teams across Amazon Books to design high-quality, cohesive, on-brand Books shopping and reading experiences efficiently and at scale.
We are looking for a Senior UX designer that enjoys building the design system that is utilized by designers and developers around the world. You love thinking about how the design framework and component work across different use cases (different screen sizes, languages, countries, etc). You love collaborating with design and engineering teams with different business objectives and identifying the solution that can scale. This role will partner with other system designers to define, spec out, and document components for the Books Design System.


About the team:
Our mission is to inspire readers by making it easy to read more and get more out of reading. In pursuit of this, our 75+ person global studio provides the user research, UX, and brand design for Kindle E-readers, Kindle apps for phones & tablets, Author & Publisher tools, and book shopping experiences used by millions of readers and thousands of authors around the world.

Key job responsibilities
• Help define and evolve the design system
• Construct configurable design components in Figma.
• Document intuitive, clear, and detailed usage guidelines for design components
• Produce detail-oriented design assets with a high level of fit and finish
• Create design specifications for engineering partners


Required Skills:
  • 5+ years of demonstrated experience in building design systems in FIGMA
  • Stellar Online Portfolio showing the relevant work around design systems
  • High level of finish and polish to it
  • Former tech company experience designing software products, (wants to avoid spot illustrations or graphic design)
  • Disqualifiers or Red Flags: (wants to avoid spot illustrations or graphic designer)

This is not a guarantee of compensation, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
