Description:

  • We are looking for a UX designer with a passion for design systems to join our Design Operations team.
  • As part of the larger UX Team, an ideal candidate is continuing to mature in their UX careers, with a focus on crafting world-class design components and guidelines that empower product designers to do their best work.
  • This designer should be organized and competent in both visual design and typography, with a working understanding of usability and accessibility principles.
  • They have designed for mobile-first web experiences and have a firm grasp on design system best practices.  

Responsibilities 

  • Collaborating and communicating professionally with other designers and cross-functional teams 
  • Works well with cross-disciplinary teams, including FED, to create functional and engaging product experiences 
  • Proficient in communicating direction, design principles, and design specifications  
  • Employing industry best practices in their design system solutions for mobile-first web and native mobile app experiences 
  • Presenting work to both cross-functional partners and the UX team 
  • Demonstrates experience executing design practices within Agile software development, in a Design Operations support capacity 
  • Collaborates with UX and FED colleagues to craft modular design system components for BBW product teams 
  • Contributes to and maintains guidelines and governance of an evolving design system, synthesizing the needs of the designer, the brand, and the business 

Qualifications 

  • Experience: a UX Designer is an established performer who has contributed to at least one shipped product. They demonstrate professionalism, craft, and can leverage what they have learned in the context of BBW. 
  • Communication: a UX Designer has strong communication skills. They can confidently express their rationale to team members, exhibit a growth mindset when receiving and providing feedback, and are proficient at documenting ideas and solutions clearly in written form. 
  • Relationships: a UX designer has strong relationships with peers and stakeholders and are trusted members of their product teams. They maintain relationships with stakeholders, manage those relationships effectively, and do so regularly. They can speak to difficult or complex problems, timelines, and negotiate requirements based on user or business needs with the support of UX and product team leaders. 
  • Presence: UX Designers are expected to proactively build relationships with peers through collaboration. They should also build relationships with stakeholders and have an understanding of how their role plays into the organization at large. A Core member can identify key stakeholders and tailor communication to their needs. 
  • Accountability: a UX Designer takes personal responsibility for quality and timeliness of their work. 

Required Experience 

  • 3-5 years hands-on designing product experiences or general UX design 
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience 
  • Experience contributing in a heavily cross-functional environment 

Bonus Qualifications 

  • Experience designing for accessibility 
  • Previous experience crafting design systems 
  • Understanding of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and other front-end code frameworks 
  • Experience designing for native mobile apps 
  • Experience in ecommerce 
  • Working knowledge of design research methodologies
