Sr. Scrum Master 
6+ month contract with right to hire

The Senior Scrum Master is accountable for a Scrum effectiveness. They will champion agile and will lead and enable team members to improve their practices of Scrum. This position will coach a Scrum team on self-management and working cross-functionally while guiding them to focus on completing increments of work which lead to high-value outcomes. The Scrum Master will help remove impediments that inhibit the teams progress and will guide them to work positively and productively. The Senior Scrum Master serves as a leader for the team, guiding them to understand incremental value and what it looks like.

Accountabilities:

  • Facilitates the activities of an agile team through encouraging and supporting the team to self-manage their work iterations using a leader who serves  management style.
  • Ensures the self-organized team's continuous improvement through monitoring and coaching.
  • Partners with the Product Owner through story mapping and other agile activities in order to support the product strategy and roadmap.
  • Works with the Product Owner to ensure the product backlog is prioritized and refined to the appropriate level.
  • Ensures all Scrum team events take place and are positive, productive, and kept within the timebox.
  • Removes impediments for the team and escalates issues as appropriate.
  • Actively participates and contributes to the company's internal ScrumMaster Community of Practice
  • Develops team members through coaching and by fostering a positive work environment.
  • Proactively identifies risks and dependencies and escalates with Product Owner and leadership as necessary to mitigate risks and eliminate dependencies through incremental organization improvement.
  • Collaboratively partners with various levels throughout the organization to achieve goals and remove impediments.
  • Challenges existing workflows and processes
  • Is responsible for radiating metrics such as the teams capacity, velocity, and health on an ongoing basis.
  • Consistently advocates for agile/iterative development practices within the organization.

Required Qualifications

  • 4-year degree or equivalent experience
  • 8+ years of information technology or product team experience
  • 1+ years of experience in the ScrumMaster role
  • Knowledge of various Agile approaches: XP, Kanban, Etc.
  • ScrumMaster Certification through the ScrumAlliance
  • Advanced Certified ScrumMaster (A-CSM), work commenced toward this certification, or strong desire to begin working towards this certification.
  • Experience within health care organizations
  • Strong and practiced understanding of the fundamentals of agile and iterative development.
  • Expert facilitator and collaborator
  • Strong emotional intelligence and active listening skills with the ability to tailor communication style to a given person or audience.
  • High energy, effective leader with the attitude of empowerment and ability to lead their team to self-organization.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills across audiences with varying degrees of technical acumen
  • Excellent critical thinking skills
  • Excellent collaboration skills
  • Continual learner
  • Strong and practiced knowledge of agile targeted tools.
