Sr. NOC Engineer
  • Knowledge of Firewalls, specifically Juniper SRX, Firepower and A10 is a must

  • Set strategic direction for systems, telecommunications, user services and vendor development efforts.
  • Defines the direction for the organization, standards, and tests systems and hardware to ensure interoperability and validates features and functions.

  • Regarded as a subject matter expert and may act as a technical project leader or provide work leadership for lower-level employees.

  • Applies advanced engineering and principles, theories, concepts, and technologies to solve unusually complex problems and issues.
  • Leads the development, evaluation and implementation of new and innovative principles, processes, and applications.
  • Exercises considerable latitude in decision-making under limited consultative direction toward predetermined long-range targets.
  • Analyzes complex voice and call center systems and/or customer network environment, including planning, designing, evaluating, selecting operating systems and protocol suites, and configuring communication media with concentrators, bridges, and other devices.
  • Resolves difficult interoperability problems to obtain operation across all platforms.
  • Configures systems to user environments.
  • Supports acquisition and implementation of hardware and software as well as subcontractor services.
  • Regarded as subject matter expert applied research, development, and design of new products.
  • Acts as primary consultant to leadership detailing the technical requirements and specifications necessary to obtain solutions.
  • May act as a technical project leader or provide work leadership for lower-level employees.

  • Requires limited direction and guidance with most tasks. Provide IP Telephony and data support for the CenturyLink CUSTOMERS’ contracts.
  • Includes data and voice infrastructure design, installation, and maintenance for new and current installations.
Job Description:
  • Use SolarWinds to manage and troubleshoot devices from various vendors including Juniper and Cisco devices.
  • Maintain and perform maintenance/upgrades at Data Center on Cisco IOS, Fortigate and Juniper devices.
  • Responsible for Configuring/Troubleshooting Juniper SRX, MX, Cisco A10, and Cisco Firepower firewalls
  • Coordinate with Security team to perform audit and vulnerability assessments of network devices.
  • Perform and coordinate incident diagnosis, corrective action, and root cause analysis
  • Independently organize work requests based on departmental priorities and system criticality
  • Manage vendor relationships required for the evaluation, installation, modification, upgrade, and repair
  • Perform preventative maintenance of Network Infrastructure components.
  • Knowledge of Firewalls, specifically Juniper SRX, Firepower and A10
  • Knowledge of IP Address Management (IPAM) systems, or equivalent
  • Previous experience troubleshooting complex network problems involving power, network hardware, routers, CSU, or carrier services.
  • Experience working on complex translations troubles and/or maintenance assignments related to network switching equipment to resolve trouble tickets.
  • Advanced expertise with IP routing on multiple router platforms
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP, routing protocols, and IP addressing.
  • Experience with advance commands in Cisco, Juniper, Alcatel and or UNIX commands.
  • Excel at working on complex MPLS issues.
  • DNS & e-mail problem expertise
  • Experience with Wireless Access Points and various remote switches/MUX’s/VOIP Telephones
  • Has ability to understand and isolate physical layer problems
  • Experience working with software and hardware tools to remotely identify and diagnose WAN problems.
  • Ability to understand and isolate physical layer problems.
  • Familiarity with VOIP, long distance and international dialing and routing.
  • Ability to identify and resolve customer reported trouble.
