Requirements:
- Experience as NOC Tech providing Tier 1/2 support Understanding of OSI layers.
- Experience with Metro Ethernet and Transport router/switch topology, IPV4, IPV6
- Experience w/ Cisco network equipment--CCNP/CCNA high desired
- Ability to work third/overnight shift (M-F) and some Saturday's (10am-8pm) as needed. OT will be paid.
Strong working knowledge and experience on Metro Ethernet and IP communications (IPv4, IPv6, routing protocols). Technical knowledge and experience on contemporary technologies (e.g. MPLS, TDM, Ethernet, eLAN-eLine, TCP/IP, BGP, QoS, IP, etc.). Proactively monitor and respond to and resolve network alarms. Perform circuit and equipment/network restoration, recognize potential jeopardy conditions, and notify management and Program Office with risk potential and impact assessments. Management of circuits (T1 ? 100Gb, Ethernet & IP), perform testing and activation of new network circuits as well as long-haul, metro, and international optical networks. Analyze network troubles, assess performance data and develop design optimization plans accordingly. Interface with fiber vendors, telecom providers and other entities on complex technical matters. Participate in scheduled customer calls as a SME to help them activate their services. The tech is responsible for providing "one call resolution" to customer reported installations. The tech works with customers, local carriers, transport repair organizations as well as other LUMEN work groups. Perform trouble isolation for customers during the initial activation. Perform trouble isolation for customers during the initial activation. Engage other technical assistance teams to assist with trouble resolution and activation of circuits. Understand BGP, EBGP, OSPF, MPLS, static routing, and have a basic understanding of LAN and WAN technology. Works with software and hardware tools to remotely identify and diagnose WAN problems. Resolves complex network problems involving power, network hardware, routers, CSU/DSU, carrier services. Has ability to understand and isolate physical layer problems. Applies excellent customer service. Understand and apply standard trouble shooting techniques. Demonstrate proficiency with trouble ticketing application as well as other internal tools. Ability to work off hours. Associate degree or 1+ year of related work experience. Knowledge of TCP / IP. Knowledge of routing protocols. Knowledge of VPN principles. Experience with basic commands in Cisco, Juniper and Adtran routers. Understanding of DNS. 1+ year of technical experience on a Adtran, Juniper or Cisco routers. CCNA/CCNP preferred. Hours may vary depending on the needs of the business. 3+ years of experience.
