The Supplier Quality Program Manager (SQPM) reports to the Corporate Director of Quality and Continuous Improvement and is responsible for establishing and maintaining the Supplier Quality corporate program and to manage Incoming and In-Process raw material quality. The SQPM works with the Supply Chain and Product Engineering teams to drive vendor partnerships, design and implement the Vendor Management and Audit Programs. Drives vendor improvement and total vendor value. Standardizes and drives Supplier Quality practices and metrics across sites. Establishes a schedule and assists in the execution and follow up of Supplier Quality audits for all sites. Drives COPQ reduction in raw material and related non-conformances.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Align the Supplier Quality function and processes with the clients Vision and Purpose
• Work with Supply Chain and Product Engineering to build the Supplier Quality (SSQ) program structure, short-term, mid-term and long-term goals and metrics for strategic success
• Establish and deploy SSQ maturity growth Road Map
• Benchmark Best-In-Class metrics and performance on Supplier Quality within our industry and outside our industry
• Work with Supply Chain and Product Engineering teams in establishing, defining, implementing and driving supplier quality strategies and methodologies that will result in achieving a Quality & Cost competitive advantage
• Drive and deploy the SSQ program through x-functional and x-site collaboration effort
• Work with suppliers and our Supply Chain and Product Engineering teams to identify supplier performance goals, metrics, and targets
• Conduct analysis on Overall Supplier Effectiveness (OSE) quality and service metrics and trends
• Establish a program with site Supplier Quality Engineers to review engineering and manufacturing specifications to identify materials needed for product assembly for all manufactured goods
• Help Supply Chain and Product Engineering research and find the best vendors to supply materials needed for a high-quality and robust manufacturing process
• Conduct Supplier Quality Audits on a planned basis
• Work with Standards and Traceability Engineer to ensure vendors and their supplies remain in compliance with company and federal manufacturing and production standards
• Communicate with vendors regularly to address any concerns and foster an environment that facilitates continual improvement in working relationships
• Understand and interpret all manufacturing and Supply Chain audits, including ISO 9001 and other industry standards as they pertain to the Supplier Quality function
• Communicate ISO and traceability audit results and implement corrective actions with appropriate teams
• Maintain a supplier database and include performance evaluations and quality control audits in the database for in-house access by company and manufacturing management personnel.
• Work with suppliers and site SQE to deploy a thorough and standard Supplier Corrective Action Notice process
• Work with site Supplier Quality Engineers to implement standard supplier Non-Conformance Material (NCM) evaluation and disposition and Material Review
• Board (MRB) processes and practices at the sites, and to communicate and replicate Best Supplier Quality Practices and lessons learned across all facilities
• Work with supplier quality and manufacturing engineering teams to drive process improvement and reduce incoming defects
• Work with suppliers to lead the deployment of PK, A3 and Apollo processes for conducting, implementing, reporting, and following up on Problem-Solving, Escalation, Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Action of supplier quality issues as required
• Work with supplier and liaison with key departments to improve supplier response time and resolution time of supplier non-conformances
• Work with Supply Chain and Product Engineering teams to build close strategic relationships with key suppliers to identify and implement new and innovative ways to reduce the client's material cost
• Work with Supply Chain and Product Development teams to implement PPAP process for supplier new parts approval
• Work with Supply Chain, Product Development and Project Management teams on defining and communicating quality-related requirements, CTQs and quality control planning of supplier product per APQP process
• Document and implement Quality Control Planning of supplier product
• Build SSQ team capabilities by training and developing all team members on World-Class SQ practices
• Work with Safety, Product Engineering, Production and Sales teams to ensure the highest level of safety in our products
• Work with IT to develop information systems and automated, intelligent dashboards for the SSQ Program, for internal (company) and external (supplier) use and interaction
• Establish operating mechanisms for reviewing, reporting and communicating SSQ program performance and maturity progress at multiple levels in the organization
• Manage budget targets and financial reporting on External Failure COQ
• Participates in Continuous Improvement and Quality Summits, Share and Learn, and Benchmarking events
• Other functions as deemed relevant and/or assigned to this role by the Corporate Director of Quality and Continuous Improvement
