This Boston based Senior System Administrator role provides an exciting opportunity to be part of an IT infrastructure team responsible for supporting a wide range of technologies including core business systems such as Microsoft Dynamics 365 and SharePoint Online and systems administration tasks around disaster recovery and business continuity for the on-premises and cloud technology infrastructure. Responsibilities cover areas such as active directory, back-ups, recovery, file permissions and maintenance, system OS and software upgrades, software configuration, software licensing, and support maintenance agreements.

Responsibilities:
  • Maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot the availability, integrity, and performance of core business systems and applications and supporting infrastructure IT infrastructure: physical and virtual, on-premises, hosted, and in the cloud
  • Maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot system backups, preventing data loss for critical business systems and data
  • Create, test, and manage documentation, policies, procedures, and training plans for disaster recovery, high availability, and business continuity systems
  • Build new Windows servers and virtual servers on premise and in PaaS
  • Maintain server rooms and assist with network and server equipment upgrades and installations as well as environmental monitoring and office security systems
  • Identify, research, and resolve technical problems, working with infrastructure support resources and vendors—escalating infrastructure issues as needed
  • Perform updates, security patches, hardware and software firmware and packages, and security vulnerability mitigation tasks
  • Support IS Team business systems support requests and business system upgrades, including QA and testing of new system functionality
  • Manage and update licenses, support contracts, and hardware warranty expirations
  • Conduct research on emerging products, services, protocols, and standards in support of business priorities
  • Liaise with external IT infrastructure providers, vendors, and contractors
  • Provide coaching to develop IT Infrastructure staff
  • Provide escalated end-user support for general technical issues
  • Provide shared after-hours escalation coverage for occasional, unexpected issues with critical production systems
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of related IT experience and various systems administration, including Microsoft on-premises and Azure technologies
  • Experience supporting physical servers and Hyper-V based virtual environments
  • Experience supporting firewalls, DNS, SANs, and IP based networks
  • Experience supporting infrastructure needs of business applications including Dynamics 365 and SharePoint
  • Ability to work independently and remain flexible in a changing environment
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects with strong attention to detail
  • Self-directed, proactive, and collaborative team player
  • Positive, at-cause, solutions-orientation
  • Strong customer-service orientation, with several years of front-line user support a plus
  • Strong communication and documentation skills
  • Enthusiasm organizational values and commitment to racial equity, diversity, and inclusion
  • Ability to lift 30 lbs. and work in server rooms
  • Available during off-hours for infrastructure related support
  • Home internet with adequate reliability and bandwidth if work-at-home options are desired
