To be successful in this role, the candidate must have experience and expert knowledge in infrastructure, operating systems (e.g., Windows and Linux), databases (Oracle/SQLServer) and networking.  Additional background in scripting automation (e.g. PERL) and working knowledge of Microsoft development products (e.g., .NET and BizTalk product) are required skills which demonstrate your technical fortitude. Other development tools and languages desired are SQL, Java and HTML5.  Finally, you must have communication skills to elaborate upon these topics in simple meaningful business terms.
Experience in transaction processing payments environments and ability to grasp the application layers is highly valued and expected from a senior system analyst.  To grow in this position, the candidate will be able to take on additional responsibilities and take the path toward development in other aspects of application, analytics, solution architecture (e.g. cloud based SaaS and BI solutions) or project management.

Job Responsibilities: Here are some typical activities you may have done this past week:
  • Troubleshoot a problem in our SWIFT connected payment hub operations. Processing payments of billions of USD equiv. funds per month it is a key system.  Monitor the flow through multiple applications and technologies of value bearing and reporting data.  Communicate with Global Business and IT team of specialists to track down, document root cause and create long term solutions. (Use multiple technical skills including MS BizTalk and App Cluster)
  • Lead conversations to track and provide visibility and metrics of issues to stakeholder.  Provide explanations and diagrams of complicated technologies in simple terms.  Be the subject matter expert people rely upon.  (Use your communication and presentation skills)
  • Proactively recommend control and service improvements.  Carry these through as part of continuous improvement.  Use your SQL knowledge to query complex data structures to respond to inquiries from Audit, Operations and IT management. (Use your Oracle or SQL Server skills)
  • Work with Enterprise DBAs and Business Analysts to move data across technologies (Use your database skills in DB2 to Oracle).
  • Work with development team to use your programming skills to identify automation opportunities.  Submit utilities to development to help improve prevention, responsiveness and identification. (Use your skills in scripting language, HTML, .NET, Java) 
  • Work with a team of analysts and developers to deploy, test and confirm production deployments (use TFS and JIRA or other SDLC tools. Understand the System Development Life Cycle)
  • Troubleshoot structured and unstructured data files in EDI, ISO XML, FIN, BAI and a number of payment and reporting standards.  Work with Banks to understand and resolve errors.
  • Self-Train in new technologies that interface with your platform (BI, In memory databases like SAP HANA, Budgeting and Planning Tools)
Job Requirements:  Qualifications and Experience:
  • 5+ Years of professional experience in information technology
  • 3+ Years of application production support experience involving installing, supporting and using information technology in a large, regulated financial services environment
  • 3+ Years of development experience in at least 2 programming languages 
  • Proven work experience as hands-on analyst in infrastructure, database or business.
  • Technical competency of database models, database design and PL SQL development
  • Programming capability (JavaScript, PERL, or ETL framework)
  • Experience with BizTalk and Treasury Management Systems is a plus
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyst XML/EDI/BAI files
  • Adept at presenting findings
  • Experience with researching issues on vendor support sites
  • Desired Education: BA/BS in Computer Science or Information Management Related
