Description:

  • This role will help create compelling, eye-catching visual stories that highlight the member’s experience and how we plan to tackle their biggest pain points. 
  • The visual designer will be part of the Find and Price Design Studio which has Researchers, a Service Designer, a UX designer, a content specialist and a design operations manager.

Candidate responsibilities will include:

  • Lead the storytelling design strategy and execution for the design studio
  • Interpret analytics, voice of the customer, market feedback, site rankings and any relevant collateral as needed
  • Pull out key thoughts and themes to develop and visualize a user's journey
  • Partner with studio team members and business leaders to creatively communicate complex ideas
  • Lead discussion and critique of work, solicit requirements from stakeholders, be a key partner in helping deliver on our mission
  • Regularly present work and speak to methodology
  • Motivates and inspires other team members

Experience & Qualifications:

  • Passion for trying new and creative ways to tell a user's story to drive action
  • Experience creating pitch and strategy presentations with portfolio examples
  • Attention to detail with emphasis on accuracy and quality, and a critical eye for design
  • Can create impactful visual stories with data and simplify processes for stakeholders
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to design within brand guides
  • Expert knowledge of design and storytelling tools such as Figma, Powerpoint, Sketch and Adobe Illustrator
  • Experience with motion, UX, illustration, and the rest of the Adobe Creative Suite

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Preferred background in healthcare industry. Bonus for health insurance experience.
  • Ability to hand sketch out ideas in workshops with users and/or business partners
  • 3-5 years of direct experience designing presentations for large corporations and/or matrixed enterprises.
  • A candidate that is set apart from others will have a strong portfolio showcasing creative ways they sketched out ideas during workshops and also shows that they can think outside of the box on how to create amazing visuals to support telling a story to bring others along for the ride. There will also be a requirement for some everyday type presentation design in powerpoint, so should also be comfortable not being super groundbreaking everyday.

Travel:

  • We will likely travel for team onsites in MN and for some user and team workshops. We do try to keep the travel to a minimum but as time and budget allows we will get together some.

Team and Team size:

  • The studio is comprised of 1 lead (me), 1 Service Designer, 2 researchers, 1 UX Designer and 1 Design Operations Manager. Have FTE postings for another service designer and another UX Designer. Then we have the 2 contract-to-hire positions for a visual designer and a content specialist.

The interview process will be:

  • Video in Teams
  • First round: Interview with me
  • Second round: Interview with studio team and we might bring in a visual storyteller from another studio if available. We would ask for a review of their portfolio and to highlight a couple of projects they are most proud of.
