Job Description:
  • Client is seeking an Infrastructure / Systems Engineer with proven experience in implementing, automating, improving, and administering technology deployments and infrastructure, within a multi-platform environment (Cloud & Datacenter).
  • Individuals applying should be familiar with infrastructure automation, Linux system administration and optimization.
  • This position will oversee and build multi-origin, zero-downtime, highly scalable and secure infrastructure on a fully automated environment.
  • Design, develop and improve automation and tools for systems management.
  • Focus on building solutions from scratch using leading open-sourced methodologies and building quality solutions.
  • This position is on the Cloud & Platform Messaging Team which supports Platforms for Messaging technologies and is focused on providing leading-edge systems engineering solutions. 
Key Responsibilities: 
  • Perform installation, monitoring, testing, configuration, migration, 
  • maintenance and troubleshooting of infrastructure in Data Center and / or on Cloud (AWS) following standardized and automated setup of environments using Infrastructure-as-Code.
  • Work with infrastructure provisioning tools such as Chef, Terraform, Vagrant, and Test-Kitchen.
  • Ensure that the technologies and architecture are up-to-date, stable, and 
  • compliant, meeting enterprise and security standards.
  • Utilize industry standard technologies & methods to ensure the integrity & recoverability like backup & recovery, clustering, security, patch management, enterprise monitoring & performance tuning. 
  • Perform engineering tasks related to design, install, configure and manage Messaging solutions in a large-scale environment that are either on-premises data centers or on private/public cloud and across distributed platforms like Linux, Windows etc.,
  • Proactively monitor and report performance and utilization of assigned 
  • technologies.
  • Troubleshoot software and/or hardware issues & failures.
  • Resolve alerts and perform remediation activities.
  • Provide input into infrastructure architecture designs.
  • Leverage Agile Development Methodologies.
  • Participate in a rotating on call schedule.
  • Collaboratively working with other members of the team.
What are the top five skills and number of years of experience required to perform this job?
Basic Requirements:
  • 3-5 years as an infrastructure engineer and experience on an enterprise level.
  • 3-5 years of experience and familiarity with IT management processes, software products, server setups, application monitoring, troubleshooting, security, performance optimizations and patching systems on On-Prem and / or On-Cloud.
  • 2+ years of experience using automation and configuration management tools such as Chef. Ansible,  and / or Terraform
  • At least 2 years of experience in installing, configuring, deploying, maintaining, and operating applications in AWS cloud instances.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, initiative, eagerness to learn new technologies and research new technologies, tools, analytics techniques to invest in your skills and grow, improve, and ability to work independently.
What are some preferred/nice to have skills the manager is looking for?
Preferred Requirements:
  • Experience with monitoring tools like Dynatrace, Kibana, Grafana and Splunk
  • Experience utilizing industry standard technologies and methods to ensure integrity and recoverability of platforms.
  • Familiarity with Agile systems management processes and standards.
  • Experience collaborating and communicating across IT teams, departments and with internal and external customers.
  • Excellent communication and people skills.
  • Comfortable working in an Apple MacBook development environment.
