Projects the candidate will be working on:

  • You will join the California Market Network and Telecom team as IT Network Engineer Contractor
  • Our IT Network team supports the Networking Infrastructure for California Market Companies.
  • You will be involved in supporting LAN/WAN/SDWAN, WiFi, Firewalls, VPNs, NAC for CA Market companies, and the Integration project.
  • Your main responsibility will be Network Support and IP Migration initiatives for the Integration Project for CA Market Companies.

Your tasks would include but not limited to:

  • Cisco SDWAN Viptela expertise
  • Layer 2 Switching and IP Address Changes
  • Layer 3 Routing
  • Cisco ISE Support and Firmware Upgrade.
  • Network Support and Vulnerability Management : Support data center Routing, Switching, WiFi, LAN, WAN, SDWAN and Firewall services and proactively monitor the health of all Network systems located at the data centers and take appropriate action when required.
  • Perform after-hours systems support, installation, and maintenance as required.
  • Author technical documentation such as Network LAN WAN Infrastructure diagrams and data center diagrams for Integration Project.
  • Provide specialized technical expertise in researching and resolving Network and Security related problems which may involve coordination of hardware and software vendor support.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, peers, project managers, and stakeholders.
  • Work closely with vendors on implementation of products, services and projects.
  • Ensure security, redundancy, disaster recovery, fault tolerance and operational standards and procedures are maintained in accordance with UHG IT compliance requirements, HIPPA standards, and industry best practices.

Ideal Background:

  • 5+ years Cisco IT Networking experience – Cisco
  • 3+ years Cisco Routing and Switching Experience.
  • Good to have Cisco ISE NAC and Some Palo Alto Experience, but not mandatory.

  • CA Market Network Engineering team
  • 1 Project Manager
  • 1 Team Manager
  • 8 Networking Engineers and 8 Networking Contractors
  • Multiple teams Coordination.

Top Responsibilities:

  • Viptela SDWAN Network Support
  • Palo Alto Firewall Support
  • Perform IP Migration Documentation - Network Discovery and Diagrams and Static Device List
  • Nexus 7K and ACI Knowlege prefered.
  • Submit IP Migration Change Requests
  • LAYER 2 Switching and LAYER 3 Routing Expert.
  • Coordinate with Network and Systems Engineers and perform IP Migration tasks.
  • Coordinate with multiple teams to Build Application List
  • Firmware Upgrade and Support of Network Switches, Routers, Firewalls, ISE, NAC if necessary for Vulnerability management.

Skills/attributes Required

  • Minimum 5+ years’ experience in Network Engineering .
  • Strong understanding of Secure access solutions such as NAC/AAA and experience with Cisco ISE.
  • Strong knowledge and experience with Routing protocols (EIGRP, OSPF, BGP) as well as HA, QoS.
  • Experience with some of the log and monitoring aggregation tools such as Splunk, SolarWinds, PRTG, Wireshark.
  • Hands-on experience with Cisco Nexus, Catalyst series and ISR/ASR Routers.
  • Understanding of Palo Alto & Cisco ASA Firewalls.
  • Experience with Cisco Wireless Infrastructure design and implementation.
  • Strong understanding of the Cisco AnyConnect VPN (ASA/FirePower), Palo Alto Networks (FW/VPN).
  • Networking industry experience in handling various switched and routed data networks & protocols in a multi-platform environment with high availability.
  • SD-WAN knowledge.
  • Cisco CCNA or CCNP or equivalent experience.

Skills/attributes Preferred

  • Strong Switching and Routing Skills. NEXUS 7K, 9K, SDWAN and Cisco CCNP/CCIE.
