Job Description:
- The INSTRUCTIONAL DESIGNER, manages the training course design and development processes, evaluates course design, and applies best practices related to teaching and learning. He also manages the workflow of online course development, and may be required to review and document course development and other services provided by other instructional design staff.
- Design, resource, and deliver training programs, which meet the needs of individuals and are consistent with the organization’s overall training plan.
- Provide work progress reports.
- Maintains instructional design records.
- May be required to coach and provide instruction to lower-level instructional designer(s), ensuring training material is designed and developed that meets the needs of the business and is delivered in a timely manner, as defined by project and program deliverables.
- Perform reviews of online courses and other instructional materials and activities, to recommend and create revisions that are in accordance with best practices and Company standards and the expected learning outcomes.
- Provides training course expertise to the DHS business, supporting business unit and divisional function in the determination of training course requirements and deliverables. The training is on an LMS.
- Provide PROJECT MANAGEMENT DURING DESIGN TO IMPLEMENTATION PHASES OF THE LEARNING SOLUTION. Interface with internal customers and vendors as necessary during the online design process.
- This role will typically be responsible for complex analysis of the training needs of employees to develop training programs that enhance their know-how, skills, and performance.
- Keep abreast of developments and innovations in training and education in industry and government education sectors so the organization’s training activities remain current and relevant.
- In addition, may be responsible for designing, resourcing and delivering larger, more complex training programs.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assess the needs of the organization
- Design effective intervention strategies that improve individual and organizational performance
- Establish standards for training and performance assessment.
- Conduct education needs assessment
- Develop curricula; Consult and apply advanced instructional design; Plan and design education/training material; Train instructors
- Evaluate all aspects of entity training
- Assess impact of training on job performance
- Facilitate team interventions
- Participate in internal audits.
- Introduces new training ideas into the organization, adapts new ideas and converts them into approaches that meet training/regulatory challenges.
- Leads projects, identifies scope and outcomes, motivates participants and leads project to conclusion. May oversee other instructors and their work.
- Works with supervisors/managers to develop plans, timetables and contingencies for performance improvement intervention.
- Participates in benchmarking and evaluates training effectiveness.
- Establishes measurement and evaluation designs and develops assessment instruments. Possible light management, team lead.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Education: BA/BS required.
- Experience: 5 plus years of training/instructional design or related experience preferably in healthcare or other regulated field.
- Key Competencies Required: Excellent project management capabilities, strong communication skills, strong conceptual abilities, and strong team orientation.
