The IoT solution architect will be working to develop a global IoT platform that connects customers, equipment, and core business systems. You will provide strategy, leadership, analysis and design for the ongoing development of an enterprise solution architecture with particular focus on IoT including end point sensors, control systems, gateways, security, data management, solution development, and network, all in multi-vendor cloud based scenarios.

This position engages with multiple IT and business teams to ensure the company’s IoT delivery meets business and customer requirements whether internal or external, attains high security standards, reduces complexity, and scales to meet demand while remaining cost effective. This is a forward-looking technology ownership position supporting customer product development and internal Industry 4.0 strategy and requires continuous research regarding how new and emerging cloud capabilities may best be leveraged to facilitate and deliver the company’s business objectives.

Responsibilities
  • Outlines the enterprise IoT technical strategy and architecture blueprint and works with senior IT stakeholders, business product owners and executive leadership to develop a compelling and articulate roadmap for IoT.
  • Understands business and customer requirements and pain points, and works directly with domain architects, developers and operations personnel to relate these to cloud and device technologies and drive standards and best practices across the enterprise.
  • Consults with application or infrastructure development projects to select and fit systems or infrastructure to architecture, and identify when it is necessary to modify or extend the enterprise architecture to accommodate customer and business needs.
  • Provide technical expertise in the definition, design and development of IoT related projects and where necessary support the solution implementations both internally and in collaboration with partner IT teams.
  • Helps define the overall Enterprise Architecture Governance framework and policies defining IT enterprise strategy, application road maps, architecture principles, standards, and best practices to ensure the approach is measured, balanced, reusable, and right sized.
  • Identifies the necessary organization and personnel including 3rd party providers who have the appropriate skills and experience to supplement design and implementation efforts.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in MIS, Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or other related technical discipline, or demonstrate equivalent operational experience and expertise.
  • 5+ years of experience in at least two IT disciplines in a service-oriented architecture (SOA) environment, including technical architecture, network management, IoT protocols, application development, IoT middleware, database management or operations.
  • Strong knowledge of and professional experience implementing Microsoft Azure cloud solutions.
  • Experience implementing IoT architecture principles, patterns, and technologies, including:
    • Integration Technologies – API management, Message Queueing, Event Driven Architectures, Integration Platform-as-a-Service (iPaaS).
    • Network Virtualization and Micro-segmentation - principles & technologies
    • Scale-out Architecture – cloud native architectures, loosely coupled applications, stateless systems, microservices, containers and orchestration platforms.
    • Resiliency and Availability – architecture and design principles.
    • Device hardware and software integration using Edge Computing Architectural standards.
    • Experience in integrating/acquiring data from automation control systems.
  • Advanced knowledge of relational and No-SQL databases, cloud storage, identity platforms, network firewalls and load balancers, and configuration management tools.
  • Advanced understanding of project management, monitoring, versioning, control, and CI/CD execution in a multi-product Agile/DevOps environment.
  • Experience at factoring operational cost into infrastructure, architecture, and service decisions.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Have awareness of the geopolitical implications of data given the data privacy, regulatory, and compliance implications and how to establish patterns to successful aggregate privacy data.
  • Experience with IT Governance frameworks (ITIL, DevOps, SRE, COBIT, NIST, ISO).
