Description:

  • User Experience Design Studio is looking for an energetic and creative Principal User Experience Designer who is passionate about creating great health care experiences.
  • You'll collaborate with a crossfunctional project team to design dashboards, portals, apps, or websites and partner with UX researchers, designers, and developers to create great experiences for our users.
  • Using user research, analysis, and UX methodologies, you'll translate user needs, patterns, information architecture, process flows, and other design inputs into easytouse and aesthetically beautiful solutions.
  • Your empathy extends beyond the user and includes collaborating, mentoring, and sharing knowledge within your team.

Ideal Background:

  • The ideal candidate would have over 7 years of experience in UX design creating wireframes, prototypes, and creating assets for various stages of the design process.

Top Requirements:

  • Experience creating wireframes and prototypes to communicate design concepts
  • Experience with various UX design and collaboration tools
  • Demonstrated understanding of usercentered design principles

Experience:

  • Exceptional candidates would meet some or all of the preferred qualifications listed.
  • Candidates that exemplify user centered design and UX, such as deep passion for problem solving for the needs of the user and/or business needs, empathy, and great collaboration/negotiation skills would be a big plus.
  • Experience with mentoring junior designers and experience leading projects would set this candidate apart.

Team and Team size:

  • Will collaborate with product manager and scrum teams to support program. Depending on resource availability, may be only UX person assigned to project or possibly lead team of designers, researchers, and accessibility engineers on project..

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Advocate for user-centered design and research principles
  • Work on one or more design projects from start to finish while meeting creative, technical and business requirements
  • Collaborate with team members to identify, prioritize and implement design solutions in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment
  • Use wireframes, flow diagrams, sketches, storyboards, mockups, and/or high fidelity prototypes to communicate the user experience at various stages of the design process
  • Gather insights and test concepts with users in order to inform design decisions
  • Leverage and contribute to existing design pattern libraries, design systems, and UI guidelines
  • Critique in-progress design work, evaluating the usability and effectiveness of solutions
  • Assist with design practice leadership: mentoring, coaching of design staff; maturing our design operations; or developing new design services

Required Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of UX design experience, including:
  • Experience creating wireframes and prototypes to communicate design concepts
  • Experience with industry UX design and collaboration tools (e.g., Figma, Axure, Sketch, InVision, Miro, Adobe suite, etc.)
  • Demonstrated understanding of mature usercentered design and research practices, meeting business and user needs and adapting to technical constraints
  • Experience gathering user research and testing concepts with users to inform design decisions
  • Portfolio of relevant user experience project deliverables
  • Knowledge of foundational web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, both verbal and written

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Degree in Design, HumanComputer Interaction (HCI), Psychology, Information Architecture, Communications, or related discipline
  • Experience training and mentoring junior design staff Experience designing enterprise software, B2B applications or large employeefacing systems
  • Experience with medical or healthcare industries
  • Experience working within Agile methodologies Knowledge of UX related analytics, metrics, and measurement techniques
  • Experience in practical application of accessibility standards and guidelines Demonstrated skills in group facilitation and conducting research (user interviews, heuristic evaluations, task analysis, usability test moderation, card sorting, etc.)
  • Knowledge of foundational web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)
  • Experience designing for mobile and/or responsive web Leadership and/or involvement in the UX community (e.g., UXPA, AIGA, IxDA, meetups, clubs, conferences)
  • Demonstrated skills in group facilitation and conducting research Proven ability to work across the design process autonomously, managing time effectively across multiple projects, with high quality and attention to detail
  • Visual design skills
