  • The Monitoring Center of Excellence is a team of 17 global technical resources providing modern application performance monitoring solutions for services.
  • We are seeking a Splunk Observability monitoring resource to join our team in developing and deploying this to our cloud applications.
  • The idea candidate will need to engage with application teams to develop a plan to deploy Splunk Observability as part of a pipeline with automation.
  • It will be beneficial to have a healthcare background and experience using other monitoring APM tools like Dynatrace, New Relic, DataDog.

Projects the candidate will be working on:

  • This project is to implement Splunk Observability Cloud Product Suite for monitoring high priority applications providing pharmacy services to our customers.
  • The expected outcomes for this new monitoring technology will be reduced application down times, faster root cause analysis and return to service for our customers.
  • Since this is a new monitoring technology to, service capability standards and deliverables will need to be developed as part of this implementation.

Experience:

  • Experience developing and implementing in Splunk

ROLE DISCRIPTION:

  • This role is responsible for developing and delivering comprehensive monitoring ensuring observability, availability and performance of high priority registered services/applications for . 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Engage and build relationships with key stakeholders to deploy Splunk Observability
  • Define, document, and publish technical standards for Splunk Observability log metrics,
  • Build and maintain GitHub repository to support rollout
  • Open and escalate support cases with Splunk on issues
  • Provide day-to-day support on maintaining Splunk implementation (automated reports, alerts, dashboards)
  • Be on-call for War Room support Splunk expertise needed to perform analysis and custom alerting or dashboards as needed
  • Develop and deploy monitoring for ensuring applications reliability and stability (Infrastructure; Log Observability, Microservices APM, Real User Monitoring, and Synthetic)
  • Develop reports for applications as requested to support Peak Season
  • Identify opportunities for application teams to customize information providing optimal business views
  • Ensure Splunk Observability telemetry/Signal Fx  is up and running on all the identified Application servers
  • Work with Splunk Support to resolve any issues as needed to support applications.
  • Thoroughly document any procedures to support Splunk deployments
  • Write scripts to automate Splunk reporting as needed
  • Provide explanation and information to others on difficult issues
  • Identify / quantify scope and impact of business changes on systems
  • Maintain awareness of current monitoring technology and the applicability and capability of each

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years’ hands-on experience in Splunk
  • 1+ years hands-on experience in Splunk Observability
  • 2+ years Public Cloud (Azure) Experience
  • 1+ year experience in using configuration management solutions such as Chef, Puppet or Ansible

Preferred Qualifications:

  • GitHub experience and contributions
  • Infrastructure as Code (IAC) experience (i.e. Terraform)
  • Some experience in infrastructure operations
  • Minimum 1-2 years Administering Unix/Linux and/or Windows
  • Shell scripting and/or Programming skill in any language
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Support experience in a large enterprise environment
  • Experience in APM/Monitoring tools (New Relic, Dynatrace, DC RUM)
  • Health care industry experience

Top Requirements:

  • 5+ years’ hands-on experience in Splunk
  • 1+ years hands-on experience in Splunk Observability
  • 2+ years Public Cloud (Azure) Experience
  • 1+ year experience in using configuration management solutions such as Chef, Puppet or Ansible

  • Total team size: 17 (onshore/offshore)
  • 2 Team Leads
  • 8 SME Monitoring Tools
  • 7 Application Performance Monitoring resources.
