The UX Engineer will bring their unique blend of user experience passion, front end engineering discipline, and creative design thinking to our team. They will partner with engineers, designers, and researchers to help bring guide to delight and engage our users, while accelerating the design and development pipeline. The UX Engineer will focus on building concepts that fill market needs and solve customer problems.

  • Design DNA + engineering thinking: The best UX Engineers have that rare blend of design sensibility and process as well as a capability to get under the hood of how a software experience really works. That means expert knowledge of front-end development as well as the ability to understand the building blocks that make up a piece of UI which ships across languages and form factors.
  • You must be a strong collaborator who can filter the right input from others and deliver solutions independently. You understand that solutions to a tough problem will require trade-offs.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills: UX Engineers translate developer-speak to designers and designer-speak to developers. UX is at the intersection of many disciplines and teams so UX Engineers need to be able to work well with them all to get the job done right.
  • Be a problem solver: UX Engineers aren’t satisfied with the status quo and are constantly striving towards a better solution, adapting quickly while learning new technical solutions.
  • Ability to create and apply an iterative approach towards a long-term north star goal and vision.
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Good communicator who is passionate about working collaboratively within the research team
  • Real passion for improving software quality, aesthetics, performance, and reliability through engineering excellence


Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with multiple teams to concept new features and enhancements
  • Ensure the performance, quality, scalability, security and responsiveness of new concepts
  • Provide clear communications to stakeholders regarding outcomes, timelines and issues
  • Focus on enhancing the customer experience through applying User Centric design principles
  • Maintain a pulse on emerging technologies, experiment and drive innovations
  • Collaborate with design and engineering to ensure that interaction, visual, motion, and accessibility designs are implemented according to design intent
  • Help define processes and best practices for building maintainable code libraries that receive constant iteration
  • Work closely with partner teams to deliver components critical to product success in a timely fashion. Managing realistic expectations will be key in making sure our controls ship on time with a high-quality bar.

 

Skills & Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent (Required)
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, HCI, Design, or equivalent practical experience. (Preferred)
  • A combination of relevant experience and education may be considered
  • Experience with JavaScript, HTML, and CSS. (Required)
  • Experience in designing and implementing user interfaces (UIs). (Required)
  • Experience in development or prototyping. (Required)
  • Experience with JavaScript frameworks (React, Angular or Vue). (Required)
  • Experience design system components, documentation, and best practices (Preferred)
  • Familiarity with design systems and design tools like Sketch, Abstract or Figma (Preferred)
  • Familiarity with component development tools and processes like Storybook, Testing Libraries, Webpack (Preferred)
  • Experience and knowledge of: Spring Framework, JPA and Hibernate, SQL, Tomcat, Git (Preferred)
  • Experience with native component development and React Native API integration (Preferred)
  • Experience developing for UI component libraries (Preferred)
  • Experience contributing to OSS libraries (Preferred)
