Projects the candidate will be working on:

  •  The software engineer will join a team that performs system support activity for the PAS – Prior Authorization System a critical business application.
  • The PAS system is built on a PegaSystems platform and operates time-sensitive transactions 7x24x365.
  • Requirement analysis, design, implement and maintain the applications within all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (Develop, test, implement and maintain application software working with established processes)

Ideal Background:

  • The ideal candidate is well versed in developing in the Pegasystems platform and has an insurance or pharmacy benefits management background

Team and Team size:

  • The software engineer is joining a system-support team based in the US that currently has 1 team-lead, 2 engineers, and 1 support/QA specialist.
  • The overall system-support team includes an India-based team including 1 team-lead and 8 engineers.

Top Responsibilities:

  •  Learn the operations/system – through independent study and mentorship sessions with teammate
  • Handle incident tickets reported by users
  • Research potential coding/configuration defects. Sometimes you make recommendations regarding fixes. Sometimes you design and develop the fix.
  • Monitor production operations and alert appropriate teammates/teams when issues are observed
  • Participate in weekly rotation for on-call responsibilities that include weekends and off-hours
  • Participate in bi-weekly (or monthly) system deployment activities
  • Engage urgent resolution efforts for high-impact (war room) incidents
  • Participate in design/code reviews

Skills/attributes Required

  • Strong Pega development skills with 6+ years experience and Pega CSSA certification
  • 10+ years experience in design, development and support
  • 10+ years experience in application debugging and troubleshooting
  • Experience in analyzing logs & alerts
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Good understanding of Oracle database and ability to write SQL queries

Skills/attributes Preferred

  • Understanding of Healthcare, specifically claims domain
  • Pega CLSA certification
  • Experience in ReactJS or other modern front-end technologies
  • Experience in DevOps / Cloud (Azure/AWS)
  • Experience working in Agile methodology
  • Full Stack Engineering
  • Enthusiastic about learning the React/Next JS and cloud technologies (not just isolate themselves to Pega)

Working Time:

  • can be flexible… typically 8am-5pm plus rotating "on call"

Interview Process:

  • How many rounds? 3 including HR round
  • Video, phone, or in person? Phone or video.
  • How technical will the interviews be? At least 1 video will be very technical to verify Pegasystems development skills
