Job Summary:

  • Act as the lead content writer and editor for the Marketing Communications (MarCom) team
  • Have the ability to creatively 'hook' the audience's attention by distilling complex scientific concepts into the most appropriate format for reader comprehension.
  • Drive the editorial strategy to deliver consistency across all channels and content is clear, concise, and suitable for its intended use
  • Ensure all content is grammatically correct, maintains the customer perspective, uses an appropriate tone, and is brand-compliant.
  • Work cross-functionally with local and international teams to tailor content for specific, targeted audiences
  • Be able to prioritize multiple projects and keep track of various goals and deadlines.
  • Be a member of the Creative Services team, which is part of the MarCom department

Key Responsibilities:

  • Edit, write, and generate high-quality content that is consistent with brand and corporate style standards for all communication channels, including, but not limited to: internal communications, corporate website, print and digital advertising, videos, blogs, social media, e-mail, sales sheets, white papers, application notes, posters, presentations, and other product collateral
  • Oversee the editing and proofreading process to ensure content effectively communicates product benefits, addresses customer needs, and emphasizes the Abbott brand.
  • Conduct research to verify content is accurate, up-to-date, informative, and engaging; work collaboratively with the Marketing Manager to implement SEO/keyword optimization strategies to increase content performance and visibility.
  • Interview subject matter experts (customers, thought leaders, and executive staff) to deliver the latest insights on a given topic
  • Establish and maintain writing style guidelines to ensure consistency in messaging and tone, and improve quality of submitted content
  • Train new/contract copywriters to understand and enforce established editorial guidelines
  • Work on concurrent projects and ensure that deliverables are achieved on time, while maintaining the highest standards of quality and creativity
  • Ensure content is engaging, easy to understand, and highly informative for our audiences
  • Iterate and update existing content as needed.
  • Generate marketing ideas to boost customer engagement, brand awareness, and sales
  • Employ an action-oriented approach to problem-solving, taking responsibility for the quality of content and assisting team members when needed to ensure project deadlines are met
  • Develop ideas for new content to support product launches, generate customer interest, increase brand awareness, and support sales.
  • Collaborate closely with subject matter experts (SMEs) such as Product Managers, staff scientists, customers, thought leaders, and executive staff to deliver the latest insights on a given topic.
  • Employ an action-oriented approach to problem solving; revise and iterate content based on both feedback and performance data.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
