  • Functions may include database architecture, engineering, design, optimization, security, and administration; as well as data modeling, big data development, Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) development, storage engineering, data warehousing, data provisioning and other similar roles.
  • Responsibilities may include Platform-as-a-Service and Cloud solution with a focus on data stores and associated eco systems.
  • Duties may include management of design services, providing sizing and configuration assistance, ensuring strict data quality, and performing needs assessments.
  • Analyzes current business practices, processes and procedures as well as identifying future business opportunities for leveraging data storage and retrieval system capabilities.
  • Manages relationships with software and hardware vendors to understand the potential architectural impact of different vendor strategies and data acquisition.
  • May design schemas, write SQL or other data markup scripting and helps to support development of Analytics and Applications that build on top of data.
  • Selects, develops and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.

Projects the candidate will be working on:

  • In this Senior Data Engineer role within ECII team, the candidate will be responsible for supporting and maintaining various applications that supports HEDIS/Stars.
    These applications help implement controls to cross-check the HEDIS software and vendors to ensure completed chases are closed appropriately.
    The ideal candidate has a strong entrepreneurial spirit, and the ability to teach and mentor his or her peers.
    This individual has the ability to advise clients and to work as a key member of the delivery team.
    The role will require deep, hands-on technical skills in designing, developing, and implementing.

Ideal Background:

  • Health care background (member, claims, HEDIS, etc) would be great.


  • Ability to understand data.
  • Apply business knowledge in a manner that will help them be a better developer.
  • Someone who can multitask and is able to perform well under pressure.
  • Someone who can work with limited guidance

Top 3 Skills:

  • experience in Database Programming using Microsoft Technology (MS- SQL Server, SSIS, SSRS, MS-Excel, T-SQL)
  • experience in Software design, architecture, and programming
  • Query optimization and troubleshooting

Team and Team size:

  • 12 onshore resources which consists of Software and data engineers. We have one Technical product owner and PO. We have 9 off shore resources as well.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the design and architecture to enable secure, scalable, and maintainable software and should be able to clearly articulate the implications of design/architectural decisions, issues and plans to technology leadership
  • Design and develop software applications and application components in an agile environment
  • Work with geographically distributed teams, with ample opportunity to learn from and mentor teammates in a fast-paced environment
  • Provide hands-on leadership, coaching, mentoring, and software engineering best practices to junior software engineers
  • Develop reusable patterns and encourage innovation that will increase team velocity
  • Collaborate on the design with other team members and product owners, both inside and outside the scrum team
  • Conduct design and code reviews to ensure code developed meets or exceeds coding best practices guidelines, unit testing, security, and scalability and maintainability guidelines
  • Drive a quality mind set within the team
  • Flexibility to be on call and provide support as needed during on call.
  • Anticipating issues and acting proactively to address potential issues
  • Work with sometimes ambiguous / conceptual requirements and guide the technical team to provide functionality with the right amount of engineering
  • Possess breadth of knowledge spanning all bodies of technologies, (e.g. databases, middleware, OS, etc.)
