Position Overview: (Major Functions and Non-Essential Functions):

The Imaging Scientist/Programmer works independently, using scientific methods to provide technical support for radiology clinical, educational and research practice. The primary duty is the development of imaging, web base and prototype applications and processing analysis tools supportive of the highly specialized programming needs of the diagnostic radiology department. Necessary to possess excellent interpersonal relationship skills for interaction with enterprise physicists, radiologist and allied health staff. Must be able to lead small to medium size projects from conception through implementation maintaining the outlined scope of project as well as time line and budget. Must remain current with developments in computer science tools that could increase innovation, quality, safety and productivity. Participates in professional educational activities and provides supervision and shares knowledge to medical physics students and summer internship employees.

 

Minimum Education and/or Experience Required: (Education Requirements and Experience):

  • Master’s degree in physics, chemistry, computer science, mathematics or related field is required.
  • Experience with the programming language(s) in clinical and research use in radiology department C/C++, C#, Python, or Java.
  • Two or more years of software engineering with full development stack experience. This includes system and database design, documentation, development/build, testing, implementation and performance tuning experience.

 

Additional Experience and/or Qualifications: (Has Achieved Competency in the Following Areas, Job Knowledge and Additional Considerations):

  • Must effectively work in cross-functional teams
  • Possess excellent written and oral communication skills, and be able to work in self directed manner.
  • The ability to pick up new assignments quickly is essential.

 

Licensure/Certification Required:

  • CIIP certification preferred
