The Senior Copywriter is a leader in the development of strategic messaging for its associated business units. He or she creates compelling, multi-format/channel copy that achieves marketing objectives. The Senior Copywriter also provides quality assurance for work completed by more junior Copywriters in the group, as applicable.

Major Duties
  • Lead information gathering sessions to understand business goals, review audience insight and product/service differentiators to inform the development of customer-focused copy.
  • Collaborate with marketing managers, art directors, graphic designers and video editors to develop an overall plan to meet project objectives
  • Expertly write/edit copy that meet project objectives, manage the review process and revise copy and concepts as required
  • When applicable, provide coaching/mentorship of other copywriters and ensure copywriters are maintaining a professional standard and brand voice
  • As needed, develop strategic content marketing plans, build and manage editorial calendars and manage repository of content for repurposing
  • Maintain a high level of creativity for every job, presenting with fresh, new ideas in a positive tone
  • Keep up-to-date on technical terms and about the equipment and technologies specific to various n businesses

Job Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelors Degree in journalism, communications, English or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • At least 7 years of advertising/marketing copywriting experience
  • Experience in a corporate setting
  • A strong mastery of writing, copy editing and proofreading skills
  • A wide and deep range of experience writing about various topics and creating multiple types of content (long-form feature articles, social/digital media posts/ads, web copy, blog articles, video and audio scripts, etc.)
  • Leadership and coaching skills
  • Demonstrated understanding of content marketing strategies
  • Exhibits a professional demeanor when representing the Company to customers and business partners 
  • Possesses or fosters a strong visual acuity and the ability to articulate ideas to art directors, graphic designers and video editors
  • Fluent in AP and Chicago writing styles
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a larger team
  • Adherence to strict deadlines and the ability to manage multiple projects at a time
  • Maintains flexibility throughout the workday and is highly organized

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Masters Degree in a related field
  • Involvement in a professional association (e.g., American Association of Advertising Agencies)
  • Understanding of analytics and how to use data to optimize content
