General Position Summary:

  • The Business Intelligence Developer is responsible implementing and support reporting, analytics and maintainability of business reporting tools to meet the information needs of the organization and Company Business.
  • The Business Intelligence Developer supports one or more business units in preparing and adoption of analysis and reporting to drive the business while ensuring accuracy and consistency.
  •  Must be able to work with multiple teams and business units simultaneously and thrive in fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Must demonstrate the eagerness and ability to learn and must work well in a team environment.
  • The BI Developer will have a working knowledge of analytics methodologies, promote data analytics and re-use of analytical insight.
  • Experience with, and knowledge of, healthcare data and software is an essential component of success in this role. This position reports to the Director of Analytics.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

  • Consistently exhibit behavior and communication skills that demonstrate \commitment to superior customer service, including quality, care and concern with each internal and external customer.
  • Work with business stakeholders to create and maintain reports in SSRS and Tableau using relational data sources
  • Provide expertise in design, development and implementation of Business Intelligence (BI) and analytics systems
  • Create ad hoc reports based on various client and service usage attributes
  • Mentor others on a wide range of database and analytic techniques
  • Gathers requirements, analyzes, creates design documents, and performs impact analysis
  • Evaluate data systems, operations, and organizational aspects of various departments, and make recommendations
  • Build dashboards, reports and interfaces for BI packages
  • Provide functional and technical guidance to business teams when needed
  • Analyze the business performance and develop reports on performance metrics
  • Identify data security issues and recommend solutions
  • Prioritize multiple tasks effectively and communicate progress well among teams.
  • Contribute skills and knowledge to other projects as directed by management.
  • Use, protect, and disclose HCP patients’ protected health information (PHI) only in accordance with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) standards.

Job Scope:

  • Job consists of unique and multi-dimensional work situations with occasional variations from the norm.
  • Job involves a moderate degree of complexity. Incumbent is responsible for working with Analytics/Data management teams to confirm data from multiple sources is pulled correctly for the use it is intended.
  • Duties are performed independently with minimal supervision and working with other Analysts verifying results and methodologies.
  • Decisions are made within established departmental guidelines, but also by using judgment for the best reasonable outcome.
  • Errors in judgment or work performance could result in insufficient operation for the organization.

Supervisory Responsibility:

  • No supervisory responsibility.

Specific Job Skills and Experience:

  • ? 4+ years of IT experience. Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience working with SQL Server.
  • ? 3+ years of BI development, SQL and/or development experience, preferably in the healthcare insurance industry.
  • ? 2+ years of experience in healthcare data required.
  • ? Knowledge of SQL queries, SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), Report Builder and visualization tools such as Tableau
  • ? Familiarity with BI technologies (e.g. Microsoft Power BI, Oracle BI)
  • ? Experience building Reports, Scorecards and Dashboards
  • ? Knowledge of software development, QA methodologies and release process.
  • ? Good project/time management and teamwork skills
  • ? Knowledge of healthcare industry and healthcare-specific interface formats.
  • ? Driven by a fast-paced, energetic, results-oriented environment.
  • ? Must be a self-starter and able to work independently as needed.
  • ? Proven abilities to take initiative and be innovative

Education:

  • ? Bachelor’s Degree (preferred)

Team and Team size:

  • My current team has 1 Sr Project Manager, 1 Tableau admin, 3 Sr BI Developers and 2 BI Developers

Nice to have:

  • a. Experience with care management/healthcare data is nice to have

Job Conditions:

  •  
  • Full time – 40 hours/week
  • 5% Travel Required
  • Moderate job pressure exists in the balancing of several projects with conflicting and sometimes changing deadlines
  • Physical capability to occasionally lift up to 10 pounds

Working Time:

  • a. Standard 9AM – 5PM, PST and MT preferred. Will consider folks in EST but may need to adjust working hours
