Description:

  • The Sr Product Owner is integral to the team’s success.
  • You’ll focus on product delivery, backlog management, sprint planning and guiding the team’s work to deliver consumer value and business growth.
  • This role will drive a variety of tasks and outcomes including requirements facilitation, developing acceptance criteria and user stories, leading testing efforts, backlog refinement and sizing, supporting development during scrum and providing analysis and problem-solving expertise as new opportunities arise.
  • This role will partner closely with the other Product Owners, Scrum Master and Engineering Leads.

Projects the candidate will be working on:

  • Support standing up new application for Financial Reporting.
  • Position of product owner to drive application through successful completion of MVP.
  • We are replacing a third party app with the development of a rich reporting tool that will produce Interactive web reports for ITFM group.
  • Tool used by executives and other users for tracking IT Financial Management data.
  • 2021 consists of MVP for this new application where we are building ever more complex reports/dashboards fed by the ingestion/enrichment of disparate data on a monthly basis. High visibility project

Ideal Background:

  • Ideal candidate is a Technical Product Owner who is accustomed to working on technical projects, optimally with Financial experience given the substance of the data/reports in the new tool.
  • Strong IT background managing complex IT Project with very tight timelines.
  • Strong experience with data management and data transformation.

Experience:

  • Ability to quickly parse through complex data requirements to hone in on Feature/Story development to support business needs/requirements.

Top Requirements:

  • Agile processes (Kanban Board), Strong Product backlog management, Rally.
  • Technical/financial is a plus given complexity of processes/requirements
  • Feature/Story development/grooming on IT Projects – 5+ years of experience
  • Rally/Kanban experience – 2 + years of experience
  • Release Management Experience – 5+ years of experience

Team and Team size:

  • 1 Scrum Master, 2 Product Owners (one being this opening), 5 Developers, 1 QA and separately our ITFM business customers who we partner with on a daily basis for requirements/story/priority/grooming.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Promote and drive Agile development methodology throughout the team/s, providing direction and support to development and quality assurance teams
  • Promote Agile product management processes, stays abreast of new emerging technology capabilities and leverages knowledge in contributing to product solutions
  • Define, prioritize, and drive realization of specific product vision
  • Accountable to represent business partners crossing functional areas to transform vision into requirements align and deliver objectives. Escalate blocking items to Stakeholders when applicable
  • Accountable for aligning business teams thru development of communications, socialization, and education of objectives and detailed requirements guiding team members to accomplish objectives
  • Serve as the 'voice of the customer' with delivery teams, representing/reinforcing the customer's perspective throughout the product realization cycle
  • Manage developing requirements and prioritization of backlog, continuously and transparently communicate with internal stakeholders the prioritization of the Product Backlog and status
  • Reviews, accepts, and prioritizes feedback and new requirements from project stakeholders
  • Work with Scrum Masters to help direct, motivate, and guide the delivery teams
  • Ensure that Scrum Team deliverables meet agreed-upon standards for quality and non-functional requirements, and that the products meet the stated business need
  • Collaborate with a cross - functional team of designers, business analysts, developers, testers and others to develop and execute against Product Roadmaps and Release Plans
  • Collaborates with Solution architect and Development leads to refine Product Backlog
  • Own, prioritize, and maintain the Product Backlog, including definition of features, user stories, acceptance criteria
  • Break down features into stories consumable and testable by a scrum team
  • Collaborate with business partners in usability testing and the development of the user design
  • Manage, prioritize, and assess the impact of defects, including providing key input on the decisions to fix or defer
  • Review output of development to ensure specified acceptance criteria has been completed
  • Defines and analyzes metrics that measure and benchmark product success
  • Release Management Activities (Release planning, dry run, testing support, communication)
  • Rally (Kanban board)
  • Maintain Project Roadmap
  • Provide Demos to leadership on progress
  • Status reporting on progress of project (risk/remediation/actions)
  • Other duties, as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
  • 5+ years in Project Management (or related positions) in the Health Care Industry
  • 5 + years of experience working with Agile development methodology
  • 2+ years acting as a Product Owner for development teams: Writing user stories, and following the development process through user story acceptance
  • 1+ years of Release Management
  • Advanced level of proficiency with PC based software programs required (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with RALLY
  • Self-starter with the ability to appropriately assess the need for independent decision-making verses leadership escalation
  • Ability to react to product adjustments and expectations promptly and efficiently
  • Strong technical skills and ability to pick up new technologies quickly is beneficial
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Experience with Passion for customers and a demonstrated focus on customer experience
  • Energy, motivation, and commitment to drive to results in a challenging, fast - paced environment
  • Demonstrated ability to meet commitments, build consensus, negotiate resolutions and garner respect from other teams

Interview Process:

  • a. How many rounds? 2 Rounds…1 Intro and then another with Core team members/Deeper Dive
  • b. Video vs. phone? PHONE
  • c. How technical will the interviews be? We do need a PO who has strong technical background so while we wont get very technical it is important to understand IT Management, Software Development, CICD, Databases, UI at a high level. But we will not get too technical just need to ensure this resource has strong experience working in technical projects.
