This is a global network support position for Global network operations. Provide leadership to a team whose primary responsibility is to monitor the data communications network through the use of console-based event management tools to ensure that the network is available to all system users. Since the Network Operations Center is a 7 x 24, 365 days a year operation, flexible work schedules and on-call is required.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support network communications and solutions.
  • Monitor the Global Network infrastructure (Voice, WAN, LAN, Remote Access, VPN, and Firewall) using a toolkit developed
  • Detect and respond to all infrastructure alerts, resolve within the network operations center if possible and escalate to the next level if resolution is not possible.
  • Use Network Management tools to determine the nature of the network outage and follow the on-line procedures to the resolve problem.
  • Remotely troubleshoot and isolate failed equipment, connections, facility issues and other components of network hardware.
  • Act as a liaison between customers and third-party organizations, such as telecom providers, internal business units, and hardware vendors.
  • Accept the approved changes from the Network Support Analysts and technicians and execute on those planned changes during your assigned shift.
  • Answer telephone calls from users with data communications problems, such as failure of data to be transmitted from one location to another location.
  • Track and update service requests using a trouble-ticketing system. Update documentation to accurately record new equipment installs, new sites, and changes to network configurations.
  • Update on-line procedures as needed and as directed by the Lead Network Operators and the Network Support Analysts.
  • Use IP address management tools for supporting DHCP, including troubleshooting, reporting, making additions or changes, and maintaining documentation.
  • Assist the Network Engineers in remotely isolating and troubleshooting data communication failures on the LAN.
  • Develop new Standard Operation Procedures (SOP) and modify existing ones and incorporate into the NOC standard operating procedures.
  • Provide technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems. Solutions are imaginative, thorough, and practicable, and consistent with organization objectives.
  • Represent the organization in providing solutions to difficult technical issues associated with specific projects.
  • Ensure that systems and the information on them are protected in accordance with Information Protection Policies and Standards, as well as best Information Protection practices.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Knowledge and skills required to manage the Cisco routers and switches that form the network infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of basic networking methodologies and the OSI model.
  • Strong oral and written communications skills.
  • Ability to work any day or time of the week.

EDUCATION REQUIRED:  

Bachelor's degree

SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE 

  • One or more Cisco Certifications (CCNA/CCNP/CCDP/CCIE).
  • Network operations and support experience.

DESIRED/PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (optional)

  • Comprehensive understanding and wide application of technical principle, theories, and concepts in the field including equipment, connections, facility issues and other components of network hardware including routers and switches
  • Knowledge of DNS, IPAM, and VPN (DMVPN and End-User VPN) technologies
  • Understanding of SNMP, Netflow, and Syslog for monitoring and alerting
  • Previous use of tools such as CA Spectrum, SolarWinds, Nagios, or similar monitoring tools.
  • Experience with Agile methodology
  • Automation and programming skills
  • Goal oriented, task driven decision-making with a strong sense of accountability 
  • Strong leadership and teamwork skills
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, presentation, and written communication skills
  • Analytical problem-solving skills
  • Prioritization skills
  • Advanced degree in Computer Science or business-related discipline
