What You’ll Do

  • Develop Augmented and Virtual Reality Applications to promote company products or improve product development efficiency.
  • Develop, test, and integrate scripts in C#/C++ to support VR/AR projects.
  • Work alongside the Immersive Technology Group to support new VR/AR projects.
  • Work closely with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects. May work with classified documents which requires thorough knowledge of DoD procedures for the proper usage and safeguarding of classified information.
  • Perform software engineering activities leveraging agile practices using the latest open source software development and engineering tools.
  • Maintain and update required records and reports.
  • Present and resolve any technical program difficulties or discrepancies with the team, customers, and subcontractors in a timely manner.
  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the SBU/SSU and the Company.  Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.

What You’ll Need

  • BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field is required plus 5 or more years related experience.
  • Each higher-level related degree, i.e., Master’s Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of related experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
  • 5+ years experience building and shipping Unity/Unreal applications preferred.
  • 2+ years experience building and shipping Unity/Unreal AR/VR applications preferred.
  • Proficiency with one or more software programming languages, such as: C#, C++, Python, Java, JavaScript, etc.
  • Proficiency with common software development tasks, such as: coding, unit testing, debugging, configuration management, etc.
  • Experience with agile software development methodologies, e.g. Scrum, Kanban, SAFE, etc.
  • Experience coding GPU shaders considered a plus.
  • Experience with web application frameworks, such as Django, Flask, AngularJS, Node.js, etc. considered a plus.
  • Experience with databases and data storage technologies including Relational databases, NoSQL databases, columnar databases, key/value stores, etc. considered a plus.
  • Passion for creativity, problem-solving, and trouble-shooting.
  • A strong desire to learn and excellent work ethic.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a team and solo environment.

Working Conditions

  • Work is performed in an office, laboratory, production floor, or clean room, outdoors or remote research environment.
  • May occasionally work in production work centers where use of protective equipment and gear is required.
  • May access other facilities in various weather conditions.
  • Travel and local commute between Ball campuses and other possible non-Ball locations may be required.

Successful applicant for this position must be eligible to obtain a DoD clearance or government customer access to classified/sensitive material.
